DO NOT TAKE A PIECE OF LAVA HOME, VERY UNCOOL, BAD JUJU.

SUNSET BEACH AND KAENA POINT IS THE BEST BODY SURFING ON OAHU BUT THE RIPTIDES ARE VERY DANGEROUS. IT'S FAR ENOUGH OUT THAT ALMOST NO ONE GOES THERE. DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR, THEY WILL GET STOLEN.

SHRIMP TRUCKS ON THE NORTH SHORE ARE A MUST. DITTO PLATE LUNCHES.

DON'T TRY AND COP WEED ON THE BEACHES LIKE A DUMBASS. THE MAUI WOWIE IS ONE HIT SHIT, DO NOT TRY AND SMOKE A WHOLE JOINT OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

SEA WORLD IS FOR TOURISTS, DITTO HAWAIIAN VILLAGE LUAU.

THE BEST PUPUS (LATE NIGHT SNACKS) ARE AT CHART HOUSE OVERLOOKING THE MARINA IN WAIKIKI. TRY THE AHI POKE AND THE BLACKENED AHI.

TRY NOT TO PRETEND YOU AREN'T A TOURIST.

GO WATCH THE SURFERS AT WAIMANALO BUT BE SUPER CAREFUL OF THE SHORE BREAKS IF YOU DO GO IN.

HUNAMA BAY IS KIND OF TOURISTY, BUT IF YOU GO REALLY EARLY IT IS THE BEST SNORKELING ON THE ISLAND.

KAILUA BEACH IS GREAT FOR JUST RELAXING. FAMILY FRIENDLY.

AVOID SHOPPING ANYWHERE IN WAIKIKI, IT'S LIKE DOWNTOWN TOKYO ONLY MORE JAPANESE.

IF YOU JUST WANT TO LOOK AT MASSIVE WAVES, MAKAHA IS MESMERIZING.

IF YOU ARE WHITE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SUNSCREEN ON EARTH TO PROTECT YOU FROM A SUNBURN. DO NOT BE STUPID AND HIT BEECHES DURING THE 11AM-4PM TIME FRAME OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

BRING TWICE AS MUCH MONEY AS YOU THINK YOU WILL SPEND AND BE PREPARED TO SPEND IT ALL. EVERYTHING IS MORE EXPENSIVE BY A FACTOR OF 2-3X.

ENJOY YOURSELF.

What I can't understand is why Glenlivet (Scottish whisky) is over 10 dollars cheaper there, (even at Big Save) than at my club store here!!!!

Flower on the left side behind ear means taken, right means available- Just like a wedding ring. (Don't send yer woman out with one behind the right! and don't go talking to some big ol' Samoans squeeze on accident!)

Also, the Aloha thing is for real- show some "Aloha" and people will respond much better to your howlie (white person) ass- And, that aloha stops after 11:00pm. Hawaiians like to scrap. If you drink after 11:00 where locals congregate, get ready to throw-down (seldom weapons- only fists and stuff... but they love that shit- best off to avoid!)

Tru dat! Hawaiians like scrap

I was a bouncer at "Lulu's" on the Big Island- we ran 9 bouncers including some guys from Dog The Bounty Hunter (Uncle Sonny Westbrook was the Chief). I was the only howlie- Some nights of island warfare... lemmitellya.

Oh! I can imagine! I live deep country Kauai, with one of the largest and 'heaviest' Hawaiian families on the island. chuckle

Heading to Oahu and Maui tomorrow for the next week... Any suggestions on what I should and shouldn't do? Thanks in advance GLP tards !
 Quoting: Skurten

Go watch the surf

Watch out for tiger sharks on western shore Maui. People always getting attacked. Google it if you don't believe me.

Spend a whole day at the Polynesian Cultural Center. (Northern shore of Oahu)

Eat spam

Eat swordfish tacos

Visit ABC Store and get Obama Disappointments & NSA Lemon Eavesdrops, donkey blue balls, and a box or six of chocolate covered macadamia nuts.

Buy an authentic Hawaiian shirt.

You should have gone to the Big Island. Kona is laid back and has great weed.

Finally, ask yourself why are there interstate highways on the Hawaiian Islands.

Have fun!

If you are white, Hawaii is not a "state," it is a COUNTRY where the locals are pissed that you stole their land. Also, the Japanese think it's the best thing since sushi.

Act brown and humble. Turn to feel the wind upon your face and take off your shirt... for a week.

Preetend you're in a foreign country and respect & enjoy the local culture.

Yes you're in the USA but it is a completely different pace there.

Have fun!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70320497

^This. Lots of tourists aren't respectful, and then wonder why the locals aren't friendlier.

And yes, Waikiki is a tad gross. Yes it's tacky, because it's intended mainly for tourists. Although I do go to the beach there sometimes.

Haleakala is cool. I've heard people say they liked Pearl Harbor. But lounging on the beach and finding things to eat and drink is what I like to do. I'd skip "hiking" up Diamond Head, but I like the drive around Makapu'u. If you go to Sandy Beach, you will pass Makapu'u. Except don't go to Sandys if you can't really swim. Avoid any red flag beach areas if you can't swim really well.

Food-wise, I like En Fuego (Kapolei), Teddy's Burgers, dim sum. If you like raw fish, there's a poke place on Kapahulu, I think.

Watch out for the Menehuna spirits, if you encounter any in a remote area, avert your eyes and let them pass.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45665684

Menehune. And you might be talking about night marchers? I never heard you can't look at a Menehune, I thought you don't see them anyway, because they work at night. Now with night marchers, you're supposed to lay down on the ground (and cover your head with your hands???) and wait until they pass. Nu'uanu at night is pretty darn spooky. So is Alewa Heights area.

Go here and have an awesome dinner!

Trust me, I have been there many times and it's the best!

Go see the Arizona memorial at Pearl harbor on Oahu.

Have a great time!

If you go snorkeling, do not throw leftover rice in the water to attract fish and have it accidentally land on other snorkelers. It will attract every little fish in the vicinity and you will hear the person screaming through their mouthpiece as the rice lands on them and the little tiny fish eat all the rice. Yup, seen it happen.

If you like ramen or udon, try to have a bowl of saimin. I used to go to Shiro's (Pearlridge), but my brother has gone to Tanaka's (Nimitz). Even the McDonald's in Hawai'i sells saimin, ha, but don't eat theirs.

Oooh and Portuguese sausage. I love Portuguese sausage. It's good with eggs or fried rice or in a musubi. If you don't mind spam, try a musubi. Musubi and saimin are the only times I'll eat spam.

Loco Moco at the Rainbow Drive Inn (3308 Kanaina Ave
Honolulu) It's always busy but they move the people in and out fast. Don't go close to closing time, they do run out of menu items. I don't even want to think of the calorie count of Loco Moco, it's a big meal, you have to try it.

Personally, I love Hani. If at all possible saying one night in Hana is so much better than driving in and out the same day.
If you plan ahead you can find reasonable places to stay on Airbnb.

I heard Maui Stables, just outside of Hana has closed. If you can find a way to horseback ride on Maui do it.

Above all respect the Islands and the Hawaiian people.
