Some of have rich history that needs to tracing.

Well I'm Irish and don't really know if we fought in the Crusades but I am sure we did.

My ancestors were Protestants who fled the carnage of the 30 years war on the Rhine. Google "poor Palatines". They also fought every revolutionary war on this continent.

Try tracing your surname back I already knew my relation to the crusades ...But knowing your heritage before they do helps , don't think they have no idea of descendents because they do mine have been well documented over that period of time and easily traceable ,so I know what would happen to me , also I still have a very military style about me as we have all been in .. In Acre, the main port city of the Latin East there was a church set up after the Third Crusade in the suburb of Montmusard (built 1192-1212) dedicated to St Brigid of Kildare. Matthew Paris in the mid 13th century mentions the presence of English and Irish there.

Quite likely people joined up for the Third Crusade (1189-1192), or maybe the Fifth (1217-1221), or even the Baron's Crusade (1238-1241).

Cant think of any actual named crusaders.....not sure about the charter evidence there.......but if the establishment of specific churches and the communities they serve and who operate them is indicative, then it appears there were a few.

In 1255 Pope Innocent IV instructed, in a letter to the Bishops of England, Ireland and Gascony to excommunicate those who had taken the cross but had failed to go yet, and encourage others to do so.

Templars and Hospitallers were quite active in Ireland.....as everywhere else for that matter. Undoubtedly the usual MO of interacting with local aristocracies and familia networks to gather support, finance and recruits.
