Quoting: **Watcher** Filter flare. Filter flares are reflections of the object which is causing the flare, whether that's the sun, or the sun's reflection in the water. Yes; if the sun's reflection is bright enough, it can cause its own filter flare. Last Edited by Astromut on 07/26/2016 03:33 PM |

Quoting: Daddysgirl and now that you have banned me from your threads, I won't come close.... You're still sore about that? And you really want to bring that up again? Ok, fine, let's review. You admitted to me that you post on my threads without viewing the videos those threads are about. Thread: First live feed of nibiru you can seed the red iron oxide dust I banned you from commenting on my threads since you openly admitted you do not, and have no interest, in ever viewing any video I post, so why should you respond to said videos on my threads? If you are that thoroughly uninterested in what I post, then you shouldn't even bother replying to my threads. When I told you this, you made the mistake of assuming that red karma you had just received came from me. I gave you green karma signed from me as proof that I did not leave the red karma you assumed was mine, and hilariously you doubled down and tried to claim that it still could have come from me. Thread: First live feed of nibiru you can seed the red iron oxide dust (Page 2) Thread: First live feed of nibiru you can seed the red iron oxide dust (Page 2) Yes, after that humiliating display I can certainly see why you don't want to argue with me anymore... For example, it's my opinion that it was hilarious for you to double down on your claim that I left you red karma back on May 3rd. However, it is a fact that I actually left you green karma and signed my name to prove it was really me and that I didn't leave you red karma. Those are not opinions, those are facts. The problem is, you continue to ignore the facts that I present. Facts are stubborn things. Go play with the other boys your age and your plastic telescopes. I could give a crap anymore.... Quoting: daddysgirlWhile I appreciate your continued compliments about my youthful appearance, I assure you, this is not a plastic telescope... Last Edited by Astromut on 07/26/2016 04:32 PM |

I don't harbor any particular ill will towards you, in spite of your unwise assumptions about me. I'll gladly allow you to post in my threads again if you promise you'll actually start viewing the videos I post before responding to them (or conversely, choose not to respond if you haven't viewed them). Consider what responses I should expect if I had responded to OP's video without first watching it to see what it contained? I'd be railed on, and rightly so. It isn't unreasonable of me to expect you to view my material before responding to it on my own threads. You say you don't care, but you do attack my explanations when I give them (even though you admit you don't watch the videos I post). You also seem to care that you can't currently post on my threads, but honestly I had forgotten about what happened back in May until you reminded me about it. I'm willing to take that back and move on if you are. |

Serious: Did you work on an ASCOM version? AFAIK you once said it works only with the LX200 command set. . No ASCOM version as yet; the ASCOM driver required each GOTO to complete and receive the stop signal before it would issue the next command, so it wouldn't work with my classic LX200 or any other scope lacking direct drive rate control. I might port it to ASCOM for scopes that support direct drive rate control, but I still need a way to test it. I'm planning to have a discussion with my alma mater about it once I get the satellite tracking function up and running. They have some newer GPS LX200's which should support direct drive rate control, and I'm sure they would like to have automated satellite tracking capability. I made a first pass at that some time ago but quickly realized simple Keplerian solutions were not nearly accurate enough even a few hours out from the TLE epoch. I should finally have some time to sit down and start writing the orbit propagation code next week. Ultimately though I'm hoping to port the code directly to newer Meade and Celestron command sets since scopes like the LX90 do not support direct drive rate control but should hopefully be just as capable as my LX200 at tracking. In fact that will probably be easier to port to than direct drive control with ASCOM since the latter will require redoing the entire guidance scheme. So basically, Autostar and Nexstar support will probably precede any kind of ASCOM support. |
