But WHY did he vote TPP?

There's all the politics of armbending and veiled threats behind closed doors. Tow the party line or else!

I'm still not sure about him - but I don't want to unfairly judge either.

Remember how they got to Kucinich with Obamacare? One ride on Air Force One...and he voted for it. Things we don't know about happen.
 Quoting: Copernica

Do not trust him.

Before he became governor of Indiana and a candidate to be Donald Trump's vice-presidential nominee, Mike Pence was a congressman, and he voted for every free-trade agreement that came before him. That record, along with at least two votes favoring freer trade with China, puts him squarely at odds with Trump on one of the signature issues of the businessman's presidential campaign.

Pence backed trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea, Panama, Peru, Oman, Chile and Singapore during his House tenure from 2001 through 2012. He voted for the Central American Free Trade Agreement, or CAFTA.

He voted to keep the United States in the World Trade Organization and to maintain permanent normal trade relations with China, the country Trump repeatedly criticizes for unfair trade practices and threatens with tariffs to boost U.S. job creation.

Pence also has publicly supported the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement of Pacific Rim nations, an agreement negotiated by the Obama administration which Trump opposes and has likened to rape.

Well, it's a good thing he is only a VP. But Hitlery is running for president and she will rubber stamp all that and more. So, Trump it is!

What's so ironic is that Hillary opposes TPP, while Mikey supports TPP.

So tell me again: why did Trump pick Lil' Mikey as his running mate?

Cruz ain't stoopid.

Cruz made a smart, if risky, choice. If Trump goes down in flames then he can just go "well, I told you so,"

Wrong. He, Romney, Ryan, Graham and the Bushies will be blamed. As they should. This is the most disgraceful election I have ever witnessed and the blame is squarely on the shoulders of the GOPe's.

Wow! Poison stickers?

Somebody bumping into officers, slapping an elephant sticker on their skin. When peeled off, the skin tingles and the sensation lingers.

4 officers affected so far, getting a sticker to be tested.

White male, 20s, all black clothes, camo hat.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72611700

I haven't heard the elephant and slapping!

I heard the stickers say "I'm f'ing awesome" and their all over town. When the officers pick them off, they get the tingling.
 Quoting: Copernica

That sounds like the first call I heard. Next call said 4 officers affected, then later they were to get checked by EMS. (3 of 4 have been seen and refused treatment)

Last call just now, said they think sticker boy is at the Casino. Confirmed now, with more detailed description.

Latex allergy? I dunno. Maybe some LSD... cops be trippin' n' stuff. Ohhh noooo.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72611700

I heard the casino call but didn't hear the connection to the stickers. Thanks for updating!!
 Quoting: Copernica

They checked a guy out in the casino (gave his name), and are still working the call. He was at a blackjack table, then the food court. Doesn't seem like it's much more than some mischief, glue, and sensitive arm hair.

Heard them ask for the time of the original call, so they may be just writing a report.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Heard a call about a Dodge pickup with magnetic sign stating "Rides", trying to pick people up for $50 wherever they want to go. Elderly couple was either robbed, or an attempted robbery by the driver in this truck.

Seems to be winding down, lots of tired cops want to get off their feet. Operations is missing two cots.

Cruz sealed his fate. Any remaining cruztards best understand "your guy" just screwed the pooch with his speach! He'll NEVER get my vote, not ever.

IMHO Trump looks classy by giving all his opponents free reign to say their peace, ie. He gave them rope and they hung themselves.

Trump, his fans and RNC are right to be pissed.

But all of them are missing the point: Cruz is a snake and did this on purpose. He likely planned this for a while, being very smart, he concealed this (lest Trump people suspect it, and dis-invite him from the Convention).

Here's why Cruz did it:

1) Now he's gonna be the darling of Wall Street who hate Trump's stance on trade and illegal immigration (read: cheap labor galore, yay!)

2) Now he is back in the news cycle and everyone is talking about it. A Malignant Narcissist like Cruz craves spotlight.

3) As a bonus, a reality-divorced loon like Cruz actually believes he is destined to save the Constitution, the country and Evangelical Christianity- if not in 2016, then certainly in 2020. In other words: he cannot allow a vulgar populist, ex-Liberal New Yorker billionaire with a gorgeous family like Trump... to take away Ted's glory.

4) Cruz may be crazy, but he is crazy like a fox. He knows now the entire Clinton Machine - and by extension their powerful, uber-wealthy international backers - will be in Cruz's debt. And if you're Cruz and you're tired of running up big campaign debts and having to beg sponsors to cover them.... now he has a very bright, lucrative future to look forward to. Democratic Machine promised him things you can only imagine, haha, and Cruz believed them. Maybe even the Presidency in 2024 (read: Hillary's people lied to his ass)

And to top off a perfect evening, Trump tells the New York Times he may not honour America's promises in the NATO treaty if the Baltic countries are attacked, so he may not stand with NATO.

But wait, in his speech, Lil' Mikey said:

"Donald Trump will rebuild our military and stand with our allies,"

Whew! I just gotta catch my breath here! Is this the GREATEST presidential campaign EVER? When it got down to the three stooges, I thought the entertainment value of the campaign would drop off, but no, these guys wouldn't quit! The Cruz-Kasich coordinated effort to stop Trump was the Keystone Kops run for president. Then those two mad dogs quit, and I thought, okay back to your regularly scheduled programming, but Trump, he's a madman! Even without a foil he kept cranking out the crazy and when it wasn't him, it was a surrogate. And now, it is the convention. The first day was too good to be true. The second day, coulda been better. But, the third day, schadenfreude heaven! That Cruz really knows how to piss people off, don't he? And he lives on the negative energy. btw this is the reason why Trump's Mike Pence pick has been proven to be the CORRECT choice - even though it was so tempting to choose a stunning Blonde like Pam Bondi or Ivanka or Tulsi Gubbard crossing party lines - due to Donald's alleged polling problem with female, younger, Moderate demographics.

Yes, Trump will tell you he chose Pence in large part because Pence can help him pass legislation, but remember, before you even get to that point... you have to GET ELECTED first, duh!

Ted Cruz may be weakened and has proven to be fraud, a psycho, a fugly-looking creep that even his own family probably do not like. But he still has deep connections within the establishment, resources and, most importantly, millions of adoring fans spread throughout key battleground states (in other words, they can swing a close election to Hillary by staying home, nevermind actually voting for her in November!)\

Yes, for a while it looked like Cruz may come on-board and Trump had nothing to worry about at the Convention.

But I think Trump or maybe his friend Benjamin Netanyahu's Mossad came upon intelligence that Ted Cruz was going rogue, was either on Hillary's side - or simply was gonna play spoiler in November by telling his dedicated base to not vote Trump.

So suddenly Donald couldn't pick a Moderate for VP as he would have liked (you know, "because you win General Election from the center").

Let's say Donald would have gone with Chris Christie or Pam Bondi as VP to appeal to a wider audience in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, even the East Coast states like NY, NJ... that's where someone like Ted Cruz is viewed as an un-electable Extremist.

Had the advance intelligence proven true, then Cruz people would have seized the moment and screamed "Ah-ha! Trump is a former Liberal. Pam Bondi is a former Liberal. A perfect RINO ticket. I told you couldn't trust Trump. Come on all you Christians and Constitutionalists, follow me as your Nominee instead! I would never lie or mislead you like Trump"

And unlike even Newt Gingrich who's long been just a talking head on TV, Pence has been doing legitimate Conservative work in Congress and Governor's chair. Ted Cruz cannot in full conscience - 'conscience' remember that word? -- claim that Pence is a RINO!

So Trump needed Pence for (added) Tea Party credibility in order to head off such possible Ted Cruz treachery, at the pass.

Now we can see the wisdom of Trump's VP choice last Friday.

Too bad Donald's trusting nature has damaged what otherwise would have been a spectacular Convention:

1) failing to vet Melania speech, overshadowed some excellent, inspired moments from first 2 days

2) just as things were returning to normal on Day 3, with Laura Ingraham bringing down the house... plus Eric Trump, Gingrich, Pence on deck ---> kaboom! that POS Cruz has given the liberal MSM a major card against Trump for months!

expect Cruz back basking in spotlight, doing all the talk show circuits, on liberal networks... and running 3rd Party, possibly with Kasich or Jeb.

All minor concerns. The big concern is safety from jihadists and the assassination of police. That's what on people's mind. Not whether Melania's speechwriter plagiarized a paragraph. We aren't living in 2012. An awakened and alarmed American public makes 2016 an entirely different ballgame.

I honestly believe Trump would have considered nominating Cruz to the Court. But after tonight, that won't happen.
 Quoting: The_Original_Mind

The "court"? As in, the Supreme Court???

LOL, it's like people saying Barack Obama is gonna be Hillary's Supreme Court pick (cuz, you know, Obama is such a renowned Constitutional scholar, amirite?)

Reality check: being a Justice on SC is one of the hardest, most stressful, complex jobs in the world. It's utterly thankless - and only honorable, lover of law would ever want the position.

And knowing all we now know about the Messiah-Complex afflicted psychopath that is Ted Cruz.... what on earth makes anyone thinks he will be content at being just one of the 9 obscure judges clad in black judicial robes?? Working for a pretty low government salary, to boot?

No, even if Ted Cruz he indeed harbored some dreams of SC when he was a young fugly Incel.... now has "tasted blood" and got addicted to national/international spotlight. Anything short of the President of the US - preferably in conjunction with also having the title of the President of the Entire Freakin' Universe + being annointed Jesus Christ Himself... will not suffice

That's what all this about. Ted Cruz could played gone alone with Trump and RNC; tepidly utterly Trump's name as a sort-of endorsement - and thus set himself up for a 2020 presidential run, possibly.

But noooo, Cruz is SO butt-hurt, SO delusional of Trump's celebrity , his many allged celebrity-pussy conquests; his massive business empire; his big beautiful extended family..... Cruz physically couldn't even utter 'endorse Trump'.

That's how mentally sick Cruz is.

Incidentally, Barack Obama at least had some self-discipline and enough self-awareness in 2007-2008 to hide his true Narcissistic nature. That's why Obama won the election, while unstable asshole like Cruz didn't.
But much like Texas senator, Obama also wouldn't want the Supreme Court job --- not when he can be some kind of an honorary UN boss, traveling around the world for free, having photo-ops with Hollwyood celebs, playing golf and giving up America's top secrets to Muslims and Marxists (you know, to "even the playing field a little"...)

but I digress, haha

btw this is the reason why Trump's Mike Pence pick has been proven to be the CORRECT choice - even though it was so tempting to choose a stunning Blonde like Pam Bondi or Ivanka or Tulsi Gubbard crossing party lines - due to Donald's alleged polling problem with female, younger, Moderate demographics.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72287311

All minor concerns. The big concern is safety from jihadists and the assassination of police. That's what on people's mind. Not whether Melania's speechwriter plagiarized a paragraph. We aren't living in 2012. An awakened and alarmed American public makes 2016 an entirely different ballgame.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9377118

No, NOT "minor concerns".

In 2000, 2004 and 2012, Florida came within merely 10,000s of votes difference. Ohio within only 100,000 votes. Just a couple percentage points.

That means that Ted Cruz, Glen Beck, Mark Levin, Bill Krystol, and David Brooks and George Will for that matter.... can literally steal the election from Trump

Hell, Ralph Nader wasn't half as popular as Cruz and he cost Al Gore Florida and the Presidency in 2000.... are you people kidding me with this!?

Yes, as VP Mike Pence helps, but many people vote on EMOTIONS, HABITS of SUPERFICIAL ALLEGIANCES to INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES rather than the facts, party or country loyalty ---> so if Ted Cruz fails to endorse Trump soon, it's a significant loss.

So there you go...Newt batting cleanup for Ted Cruz.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41098940

Not cleanup for Ted. He was changing Ted's message. Way to to Newt!

It should now be clear to the last of the cruz holdouts, that cruz is a globalist, and actually supports the status quo in DC. He is a closet bushie. His message tonight was not party unity. He, like Bush, romney and the others would rather have hitlery win and the global progressive march go on, that try to stop it by electing Trump. For someone who claims to love the constitution, he sure isn't trying to stop it's destruction. Lyin Ted. Boy, did Trump ever peg him.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72612361

The bolded part above, is very good point. Ted Cruz is a deranged fraud and an absolutely SNAKE. A classic Beta cuck Incel in high school and college, who hates Alpha like Trump deep in his bones.

You correctly mention that by effectively telling his supporters to vote hillary or stay home, Ted Cruz will result in the shredding of the Constitution (by ultra-liberal Supreme Court picks, if nothing else)

But you and many others rarely mention another reason why these so-called "True Conservatives Never-Trumpers" voting for Hillary is so retarded & devastatingly self-destructive: Christianity

They say Trump is not a hard-core Presbytarian. Ok, Donald is not perfect. But guess what? Trump is gonna protect & promote Churches and Christianity, and Mike Pence? Even more so!

For instance: if Trump brings back "Merry Christmas", Morning Prayer in Schools and 10 Commandment tablets on government buildings.... does it matter that Trump did it because he is super-religious, OR because he just "merely" respects Christianity & deep American traditions associated with it?

Better yet: If Trump does away with Lyndon Johnson's 50 year old law that basically neutered Evangelical church's ability to promote its cause in politics..... it would be a YUUUUUGE positive sea-change for Christian cause overall. Who cares if Trump himself mispronounced '2nd Corinthians'?!!!

Because here's the thing: Ok, Cruz-tardz, stay home. Hillary wins. She and Obama are basically a front for the very powerful, global Muslim-Marxist Alliance ----> and whatever damage Obama did to American Christians, will be subsequently finished by Team Hillary

(Huma Abeddin's Muslim Brotherhood pals in Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Iran, Qatar say 'Hi")

So in summation: Ted Cruz says he is all about Constitution. But by tearing down Trump, Teddy Canada brings about Constitution's collapse. Ted Cruz says he loves Christianity and Jesus, but by helping usher in Hillary's dark reign, the cause of Christianity will receive a potentially fatal blow.

"Brilliant!"

PS. All that said, Donald Trump is NOT entirely blameless in this whole thing either. His stupid habit of carrying on petty grudges & insulting people below the below, had finally caught up with him. Rightly or wrongly, if he wasn't so vicious to Glen Beck and Ted Cruz, chances are the latter wouldn't be so vindictive to him. And Donald would then have millions of Cruz/Mark Levin/Glen Beck fans in his corner come November. Just a small example. Same with Romney, Megyn Kelly, Jeb and many others.

Just simple math, people. People are people and have deep drudges. Not excusing that psycho Cruz or his pathetic stunt last night, but come on, Donald is culpable in this, too because he crossed red lines.

Clintons and Obama hate each other, but they never crossed that line, which is why they managed to successfully set their mutual dislike aside to win the presidency in 2012 and possibly in 2016, too. (Obama will campaign hard for Hillary as Bill did at the Convention in 2012, delivering big blow to Romney)

The second day, coulda been better. But, the third day, schadenfreude heaven! That Cruz really knows how to piss people off, don't he? And he lives on the negative energy. The more you hate, the stronger he gets.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72593427

See, this is where all you schadenfreude little sadists get burned: Ted Cruz types troll people and "feed off negative energy", as you say.

But then they end up messing with the wrong entity or country, and it all ends in horror and tears.

Right now the stakes for the country and Free World couldn't be higher. This election is literally "This is It" moment. America survived Obama, barely, but 8 years of Hillary and then 8 years of Julian Castro type, would be too much. Damage = catastrophic, irreversible.

For Israel, electing Trump and Republicans is literally a matter of Life and Death (in case you don't give a shit, might I suggest googling: 'The Sampson Option'... not so funny now, huh?)

So, knowing all that... if the difference between Trump winning a close election, and LOSING a close election... is that venal c*nt Ted Cruz and his snake tongue.... say, Mossad or Saudis would take care of his smug ass in a nano-second.

Karma is a bitch, huh?

Actually Trump would have no problem helping Baltic states or other countries defend themselves. But NATO rules have to be re-written or at least enforced - in other words, other countries have to pitch in their share:

-Norway has a ton of oil wealth, so maybe give the contract to an American company next time?
-Next time US or Israel are facing hostile UN vote, how about actually cast your vote with US, for a change?
-Japan and South Korea are economic monsters - how about making a more fair trade deal that respects American companies/workers?
-Better yet: how about Europeans help us fighting terrorism and cyber threats?

Example: defeat ISIS in Mosul and Raqqa, a US-led global coalition will need 100,000 troops deployed for months (on rotation basis). It's not fair American treasure and blood shoulder most of the burden again.

So, Finland or Estonia, you want Americans to send you weapons and otherwise deter Putin? OK, but you must commit 5,000 Estonian or Finnish troops + certain military hardware... to the overall effort to defeat ISIS in Iraq, Syria and Libya.

"What's that you say, Finland and Norway? Your far-Left parties are against "American militarism"? You don't have the money to help the NATO counter-terror effort because you spent your last penny on building a cradle-to-the-grave welfare state for the benefit of Rape-fugees? Alrighty then, enjoy speaking Russian and stock up on lube because we hear Putin boys like anal. Kthxbai"

When framed like that trump has a legitimate argument. It's NOT "Neo-Isolationism" or some other pretentious bullshit accusation. As long as Trump refrains from saying politically damaging things like "Disband NATO", he should be fine.

Just better phrasing goes a looooong way in the world of politics.

Exactly.

Not just NATO but 150 other countries in the world need to pull their weight fighting ISIS/Islamism, North Korea, Chinese expansionism, etc.

If you can't contribute 10 billion dollar for collective defense organization like NATO: on steroids? OK, contribute 1 billion or equivalent value (in logistics, unique intelligence, volunteer doctors, administrators with special skills, etc)

If you can't contribute 10,000 soldiers on the ground in Iraq, Syria, or Libya or Mali, then do 1,000 soldiers, but with emphasis on special forces and other critical mission support staff.

If everyone was completely on the same page, equally dedicated to world peace and security, and was honestly contributing, then sky is the limit.

It's not a matter of "disbanding" NATO which of course is a horrible idea that only Putin would love... but rather making NATO much more effective and fair in terms of the US and its major allies.

Trump just needs a couple of brilliant speechwriters and speech coaches to help him reach that whole new level of focus, devastating punch power - but without[/b[ offending people and giving liberal media an excuse to defame the GOP.

Oh and Scrump, my liver still hates you!
 Quoting: Doom Master

Maybe even the Presidency in 2024 (read: Hillary's people lied to his ass)

btw this is the reason why Trump's Mike Pence pick has been proven to be the CORRECT choice - even though it was so tempting to choose a stunning Blonde like Pam Bondi or Ivanka or Tulsi Gubbard crossing party lines - due to Donald's alleged polling problem with female, younger, Moderate demographics.

It all boils down to: if Trump truly WANTS it, he will win.

He will hire teams of excellent speechwriters and strategists who specialize in General Elections. He will practice hard and read off teleprompter (it's an artform as Barack Obama skillfully showed for years!)

He will build an impressive GOTV infrastructure. Etc.

And if not, he will lose. whateve

Take your ass to defend Turkey dumb ass...it will be a sharia state soon.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72287311

Many "enlightened" European nations, amoral Asian nations, and of course a bunch of 3rd world freeloaders will *NOT* like your idea.

They want America to do all the heavy lifting, all the dying and spending. They want America to assume all the risk, all while they take snide potshots at America's "arrogance".

....all while being saved from Germany twice, then Sovies during the Cold WAR. And now the fight against 21st century plague, Radical Islam.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72629906

NATO and civilized world as a whole, need to start pulling their damn weight in fight of terrorism and otherwise.

Not talking about strictly money here, either. There are a variety of ways to contribute. Trump should have made it about more than money - expertise, manpower, logistics, intel-sharing, etc.

Then his argument would have a wider, deeper resonance IMO
