They say the European mazes were introduced by the Spanish conquest because the possibility of them being independently risen is a million to one shot. The idea of pre-Columbian times is said unlikely, lol They have dated all the European design motifs but never said about the Hopi and Pima motifs. The Hopi call the Minoan maze symbol a Mother Earth symbol, Tapu'at, meaning Mother and Child, suggesting the passages in the maze are paths that man must follow on his Road of Life. The Pima symbol was used in children's game called hose of Tcuhu and is still used in basketry. |

While this tale is the stuff of myths, with plenty of embellishments added through the years, geologists are finding that at least part of the story is based in reality. The ancient Chinese legend holds that a devastating flood of the Yellow River forced people from their homes and washed away farmland, leading to famine. Emperor Yu is said to have tamed the floodwaters by dredging the river bed. The heroic emperor went on to establish the Xia Dynasty, the first in Chinese history. Until now, a lack of geological evidence for such a flood left some scholars questioning whether the legend tells the story of a real disaster or if it was propaganda used to justify imperial rule. |

Ancient storytelling was a very highly regarded esteem within a tribe. They were keepers of history/records, morality, wisdom, integrity, etc. They were what steered society so the accuracy of what was said was not said lightly by them and was carefully done. The really good ones, knew how to relay a story so that any culture or being from anywhere could understand in any time or any season and those stories still hold to the test of time. To many, it might look like a children story, myth, etc on the surface but the further back you look the more you see. |

They are mostly supposed to have been related to either Iranian or Thracian speaking groups which migrated under pressure of the Scythian expansion of the 9th to 8th century BC.[2][3][4] According to Herodotus, the Cimmerians inhabited the region north of the Caucasus and the Black Sea during the 8th and 7th centuries BC (i.e. what is now Ukraine and Southern Russia), although it isn't possible to identify the Cimmerians as the bearers of any specific archaeological culture in the region. A people named Kimmerior is described Homer's Odyssey (book 11) as living beyond the Oceanus, in a land of fog and darkness, at the edge of the world and the entrance of Hades. (OP) User ID: 71884387 United States 08/10/2016 07:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Going fractal micro [link to www.livescience.com] Live Science: What made it possible for microbes to successfully infiltrate and colonize so many different forms of animal life? Ed Yong: One of the themes in "I Contain Multitudes" is that it's a microbial world — we're just living in it. Microbes have been around for billions of years. They were the first organisms on the planet, and they had the full run of it well before we arrived on the scene. Humans and other animals evolved in a world that was already teeming with microbes — we evolved to make use of that, and we evolved to live within it. In the book, I talk about how microbes shape the guts of fish and mice and other organisms, and throughout, I was interested in the question of why that should be. Why have we outsourced these important aspects of our lives? I think the answer is that there was no other choice. For a long time, people feared microbes; we thought of them as germs to be destroyed. Now, there's a counter narrative of microbes as being friendly and beneficial. I think the truth lies in the middle — these are organisms that don't have our interests at heart. They're living out their own lives. Sometimes, that aligns with our interests, and sometimes it doesn't. We know gut microbes are critical for digestion, for training the immune system, and for helping to control growth and the development of our organs. But if they cross the lining of the gut and get into the bloodstream, the very same bacteria can cause inflammation and sepsis [a potentially life-threatening complication of an infection] and all kinds of problems.
