Let's say I have to hold (can not sell)this stock until July 2016. I live in the USA, the Dollar strengthens (is worth more than the Euro)versus the Euro, chances are I will loose money since it was a French stock is measured in Euros and my dollar to Euro exchange rate is higher. My investment is a combination of the Stock purchase price and the Euro. At least that is my simplified version of the way I view a derivative. Not sure it is accurate though. |
