I currently at Huddersfield station. There are no trains in or out.

Station staff have told us that an armed man ran down the platforms into the tunnel and there is some kind of standoff.

We are all outside waiting for replacement buses.

Station staff are being very helpful there are police on all platforms.

My battery is very low but just wanted you guys to know what is happening here.

Nah. Apparently just a garden variety druggie or drug dealer.

It was probably a spud gun.

I know - frikkin typical!
My phone had been switched on since 9am so was on its last dregs by the time I got to the station.

I will buy a spare battery just in case I get caught up in any exciting events in future.

Bridget Jones would have done a better job of reporting it than me.

I have been checking local news for updates - nothing seems to have been updated after 10pm.

My minibus left the station at 10.45, just a few minutes after 6 police officers left the station.

There were 12 police officers in attendance at the station platforms I think.

The whole thing seems to have kicked off at 8pm, I think I arrived at the station at about 9.30

The station staff were really professional and calm.

Yep, Virgin staff only operate in one mode unless you try to jump the train in which case they bollock you like crazy. Oh, but they hate it when your ticket gets stuck in the gates cos nobody find the keys to unlock it.

Ha ha really?! Lol.
I don't think any Virgin trains pass through Huddersfield - I think there are only 2 train companies that have routes calling at Huddersfield, Northern Rail and TransPennineExpress.

These guys were Northern Rail.

The station staff were really great - I am at home now.
My battery died literally minutes after posting .

The staff arranged for minibuses to take us where we needed to go. Just before we left 6 officers left the station.

The station staff told us that a man with a gun ran down the platforms and into the tunnel. A local newspaper is reporting that it was to do with drugs but we were not told anything like that.

Thankyou.

I must admit, my mind was thinking of something that happened this morning on my journey into Huddersfield - when I was about to go through the ticket barriers a guy tried to run through the open gates and bashed into me.
The station guy stopped him and sent him back through the barrier telling him to go and buy a ticket.

The barrier barger was arguing back about missing his train (he had a heavy accent so I couldn't hear him properly - plus I was Pissed off about the guy running into me.

Yes, I admit it, thoughts of a Snackbar went through my mind.

I agree.
Where I grew up, guns were very commonplace amongst the gangs/families. And not just your air rifles or BB guns.

Also, there is a so - called "Newsagent" shop called Barkers in Bradford that sells bulletproof and stab proof vests, alongside crossbows of all sizes and imitation guns, all on display in the windows.
If there were no guns in the UK then the shop wouldn't be needing to sell bulletproof vests.

I will try to get a photo on Thursday when I am next there.

hmm armed man in a tunnel ..

bet loads of pigs went running in after him too

like loads of american soldiers went running into caves after osama bin laden ...

gonna take a guess and say he's a brexit campaigner

racist bigot who wants to murder brown babies and drown their mothers in the english channel .

but he will die in that tunnel and he will be carried out on a stretcher to the tune of a thousand news reporters and cammera flashes

tommorrows headlines

brexit nut goes nutts and bullshit polls suddenly swing in the in direction ..
