I would think Oceanic Research could have a lot to do with Nibiru..

There are a lot of things like methane Gases, volcanic activity and water levels rising could easily be as a result of an incoming planet or brown dwarf.

Not to say I play into the existence, but.. if it does exist, I wouldn't think it would need to be what I constitute as "right next to our planet."

Maybe she was investigating global warming and why the sea levels will rise in the next 50 to 200 years in the future. Apparently she found the true reason about sea levels rising. They told her to stop investigating and to drop it. She refuses to do it. So someone order an assassin or hitman to kill her.
Or maybe she discover information she wasn't suppose to find out. She found out about top secret info and she had proof. She was going to be a whistle blower and tell everybody. They couldn't arrest her for it so they killed her. She was gonna speak the truth about something she found out.
