Oasisjacks gear review. Gerber prodigy survival knife | |
Oasisjack User ID: 56031515 United States 05/31/2016 06:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | After my weekend camping trip for the Memorial Day weekend I can now whole heartedly endorse the gerber prodigy survival knife as a great piece of kit. For around 50 dollars this full tang knife come shaving sharp and with a nice rubberized sheath. I used the knife to baton about 2-3 bundles worth of wood before using the blade to shave a portion of my arm hair off. After all the abuse the knife showed absolutely no wear aside from some of the bluing wearing off, The blade including the serrations were still just as sharp as the day I bought it. The cordage and rope I had brought along to hang various items including my cooler (bear country) was cut with almost no noticeable resistance across the serrated edge even after all the wood chopping. I used both serrated and smooth edges for fine work such as shaving thin strips of wood for fire starting tinder the serrated edge proved much better than the fine edge but its location near the handle could be why. I did not test the glass break or try to chop down any trees with it but I can say it will chop pretty well though. All in all if you are looking for a good mix priced knife the gerber prodigy is an exellent buy for your B.O.B or for your camping kit. I'll post more reviews of my kit as I field test them feel free to post your own reviews of knives or other gear here. |
