Anyone notice the direction that the sun is setting today? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 71678174 United States 05/26/2016 10:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just checked as it has 15-20 minutes before sundown Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71519262 It's NORTH WEST Not WEST as usual I think it's been creeping northward for awhile Comments? Be advised that the Sun is a fixed star. If you see that sunset is off and if it is, it would be the Earth that shifted not the Sun. |

JKD User ID: 70068046 United States 05/26/2016 11:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The fact of the matter is that when I commute in the A.M. over the GWB, I use my sun visor on the driver's window not the windshield. Thank god my visor can rotate that way, to the North. So, either the sun has changed its arc in our skies or someone moved the GWB to face in a more Southeasterly direction. Would that individual fess up because he/she has got to help me move my sun garden, and that is a lot of work! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 59156600 United States 05/26/2016 11:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | These tards come out like clockwork EVERY time we approach June and again in December. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71115669 it's a hell of away to learn astronomy isn't it? lol the dumbass way. Again, it doesn't mean that OP is any kind of 'tard, he really could be noticing sun in different place than usual. He maybe lives in area prone to landslides or slumping, there could be more groundwater, even result of fracking. Landslides can be as fast as feets per second to feets per year. They could drastically change position of his house. If more people in same area notices same thing, it could be just something locally. But it would be much more alarming if people in different states notice changes in suns position. It is not necessary that earth changes its tilt, crust or tectonic plate could move/rotate at such noticeable speed, but that would be catastrophic. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 71545746 United States 05/27/2016 12:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You are absolutely correct. I just went out to close the chicken coop out by the garden and shooting range. I purposely positioned a solar panel to the west .. the setting sun is more intense and provides better charging. Two marine batteries and inverter provide power to the coop to do short chores. Quoting: TriggerFish I live in central Texas ... Texas A&M University. Tonight the clouds to the north northwest were lite up from the setting sun. For weeks the intense rain and clouds have obscured the sun. Today was a f*cking serious a** tornado and insane flooding day. Neighbor houses and property being destroyed. When the hell does the sun set to the north??? Hey, hey, you're getting all growns up. An actual post with personal detail and no mention of Wormwood. Your move, Daddy's Grandma. |

User ID: 72281666 Germany 05/27/2016 05:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The sun is setting at least 40 degrees NORTH of where I remember it setting. Light coming from the sun in a window in my house that I have never seen it in. Quoting: Sledster Not sure if I never noticed it, or I am experiencing dimensia. It is fucking wierd though. It's 'Dementia' and yes you are suffering from it (just kidding). Either that or your house has moved. The sun is exactly where it should be. May 9th's Transit of Mercury was long predicted and began precisely on time. I don't know where you live, but here in the Mid-Atlantic it has been rainy, cold and foggy most of the month. Now that the sun is shining again, one notices the angle of sunrise/sunset and the length of days dramatically different than 30-40 days ago. It's just our sudden awareness of the seasonal changes. The Earth, Sun, Moon and Stars are all normal. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] when a planet transits the sun hardly has anything to do with the angle the earth rotates at. But until sunlight shines on the north wall of a building I wouldn't worry. Not north/west, north It has - the transit path would be different. . :ase26122019: Annular Solar Eclipse - December 26, 2019 - Kannur, Kerala, India |

User ID: 72281666 Germany 05/27/2016 05:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Last year I posted about the sun in the A.M.. Since my commute to work has been the same for 31 years, I am able to make comparative observations about how far north sunrise has moved. I commute over the GWB (George Washington Bridge) each day. The bridge crosses the Hudson River in an East West direction. When I began my commute the sun was always directly facing me as I drove East around 7:00 A.M.. There were slight variations in different seasons so that the sun rose either a little to the left or right of the center bridge span by about 10-15 degrees. Since the early 2000s, however, it never rises to the Southern side of the bridge. It faces, always, more to the North. At first, it was hardly noticeable. Now, it is a full 45 degrees North of the bridge span. When I posted before I had a young responder remind me about the East West streets in Manhattan having a canyon like effect when the sun altered its trek across the skies with seasonal changes. I also had Dr. Astro provide celestial charts to marginalize my observations. The charts were interesting and accurate but had nothing to do with the earth's axis shift. Quoting: JKD 70068046 The fact of the matter is that when I commute in the A.M. over the GWB, I use my sun visor on the driver's window not the windshield.
