Why is it we fight so hard to be special, to be noticed?
Are we not enough for ourselves?

Why do people care about celebrities? Are they not enough for themselves?

Why do people think that they can be the savior of mankind? Do they think mankind will welcome them with open arms?

Why do people think they are Jesus? Do they really think themselves that perfect?

Why do people wait for the world to end? Are our lives really that sad?

If the government is watching everybody, doesn't that mean we are all equally irrelevant?

Why do we tell stories of "Him" and "Her"? When we are just trapped in a machine...?

because we sense that if we knew the truth of things, all those things we thought we were would pale in comparison to what we really are.

the people that should be worried are the people that don't sense that imo.

Would you say the common link between all of those is reality avoidance?
 Quoting: Kayli

Thanks. :)

I think the common link is human beings recognize their own uniqueness in the Animal Kingdom. We ARE set apart from all the other beings on this planet and that confuses and intrigues us. We reconcile the great question of 'What and Why am I' by pouring our energy into great works of human ingenuity. And its opposite of course.

One of those talents are that humans are fantastic storytellers. We want to see our fantasies play out, even IF we only do so vicariously through others and in the safety of our homes.

This is where mirror neurons come into play. Where if you see a person running on screen, the same parts of your brain will light up as if YOU were doing the running. That is why movies are fun.
 Quoting: Seer777

Don't get me wrong. I love the fantasy world (obviously). I might even like it more than reality. I have always wished the fantasy world could be real. I do believe stories have all kinds of merit, and that the imagination should be cherished.

But it does seem like most people, not glp people but most people I know, aren't all that happy and so they seek anything and everything to distract themselves. You don't need to be a nobodytard to live in a fantasy world. People get that invested in all kinds of media and entertainment and mind altering substances. It's like a pick your poison kind of deal.

I guess we can only ever have our own experiences, and we are kind of the 'stars' of our own lives. Our own 'shows'. But so is everybody else. We are all only human. But we want to be something more.
 Quoting: Kayli

What is magick other than the art of self-fulfilling prophecy?

It's not so much about fantasy & reality, it's all about perspective & the relationship one has with both. Intelligent use of fantasy is powerful & unintelligent use of reality has negative impact or can even be destructive.

And shouldn't we want to be something more? Life is growth & death is stagnation, either dying to live or living to die. Infinite things to learn with finite time to learn, and yet, this is not to say that we should spend our entire lives sacrificing the journey for trying to become something.

lots of other symptoms, like lying, feeling entitled, financial abuse, drinking, gambling, two-faced.
 Quoting: nikki nikita

Those are just symptomsof a bigger issue. It is what happens when one does not acknowledge a spiritual source. A soul that is truly grounded needs none of those feels.
 Quoting: Sigh 54364325

I agree that true spiritual mastery can only be found in those whi have moved passed the need to be gratified by others or the need to put themselves above others in order to feel their spiritual accomplishments have value. Unfortunately most get stuck at the "I'm-the-messiah" stage.

Re: Delusions of Grandeur
Why is it we fight so hard to be special, to be noticed?

The pleasant neurochemical reaction in response, though too much attention can be tough to withstand without giving into the forces that would set you up as sacrifice before the tribe in order to attempt to heal the tribe.

Are we not enough for ourselves?
I=I=I=I

Why do people care about celebrities? Are they not enough for themselves?

for most it is amusement, it connects them to products they can buy, it connects them to lives they can lead vicariously, it keeps the population under control because they get to feel like a person who has lots of wealth within a short fantasy. Some people use celebrities to alter the course of history. they have power to influence by merit of the fact that people keep looking or go to locations where they are displayed.

Why do people think that they can be the savior of mankind?

Only a few people on earth have this potential written into the fates. even fewer will live up to that potential. the saving of mankind is multi-faceted and the number of forms that one would take in order to save mankind would be too many to fit into a single lifetime. there is little precedent for a singular role of savior at all levels of being. to become like that figure would necessitate countless hours of diligent study and surrounding one's self with morally upright people.

Do they think mankind will welcome them with open arms?

Most do, initially. They'd have to put up some bold figures in order to gain recognition. It isn't until a certain age that one can act in the most beneficial manner before the tribes. If penance is paid, they will be let to survive, maybe they will be let to prosper if they have a gift within them to give.

Why do people think they are Jesus?

It is a funny thing to say when talking to a christian, who ritually meditates on a man who lived 2000 years ago as if he were a God. He was more godlike than most, but there are others since him who are purer channels. jesus is an infectious meme that people won't stop clinging to and hiding behind.

Do they really think themselves that perfect?

Nobody is perfect though some may come closer than others. Some people have cultivated certain abilities and intelligences within their makeup that give them a greater understanding of the world than the rest. Sometimes they are compelled to share it in order to quicken cultural progression. they can make for grate guides so long as they don't become too full of themselves.

Why do people wait for the world to end? Are our lives really that sad?

It is preferable to dealing with what is at hand for many. Most people are sad, but act happy in public because they don't want other people to think of them as sad because that would be even more saddening. Some are better at switching their thoughts away from ruminations on sad feelings. Many have pangs that call them to the return to the old order of things.

If the government is watching everybody, doesn't that mean we are all equally irrelevant?

Yeah. Basically everything you are is calculable for months to years in advance. There are only a few individuals who are of any interest to the PRISM program and earth's satellites. they try to focus on their studies and not about which private corporation or nation owns which satellite that is flying overhead between these and those hours.

Why do we tell stories of "Him" and "Her"? When we are just trapped in a machine...?

There are a few love stories that are particularly powerful when dealing with genetic deviants seeing as the male or female sometimes possess the power to end the world with relative ease and simultaneously they choose to alienate themselves from others. Partially due to a fear of being found out, being judged, having to deal with the lesser members of their species or for fear of infecting everyone with their particular brand of mental illness. Sometimes this ripples through the forum to connect a couple. Maybe they will form a bond.

Delusions

The problem then becomes with the deluded..... The deeper their identification with their delusions.... the more the shattering process affects their self-esteem.... identity, and perception of themselves in the world.

And the deeper their identity with the lie..... the more they will strive for their very own blindness as from their point of view.... the lie and themselves are one and the same things.

In short.... by creating their identity that relates to ANY fiction or delusion makes them and the delusion as one.

I suppose I'm the wrong person to talk about sanity because I don't believe it actually exists, except as varying degrees of madness.

Perhaps sanity is just the willingness to indulge oneself in a collectively accepted delusion.
