Do you have doom related hobbies?
I personally tend to choose hobbies that help me develop skills that could be useful in a Shtf scenario. Of course I don't talk about that part, but in my mind, I am building skills that make me feel like I'd have a better chance at making it if civilization were to fall apart.

I take archery classes. It's fun and I enjoy it, but I also know that if I was ever in a situation where I had to hunt, that is how I would want to do it. Even though I have only ever shot an arrow in an indoor range at a paper target, it makes me feel good to know how to do it.

This summer, I am going to take some sailing lessons. I know that might sound silly and somewhat frivolous to some, but in my mind, I want to know how to get off land and live on the water if there were ever a reason to need to get away.

To any normal person, this kind of thinking sounds nuts. However, this is GLP, so I wondered if some of you might be able to relate.

What hobbies do you have that might become useful if Shtf?

I make Marilyn Memes to mock fake doom on the internet.

I also write and record Music, sometimes (rarely) for the conspiracy community, such as my 2003 (ahem) hit "Nibiru"

I have also gotten into Photography, because I like clichés, and if doom presented itself I would probably photograph it.

3d graphics, but this hobby is dying for me.

I also like to imagine I'm going to write a book one of these days.

In the world of Medical doom, I like to cook things that will kill people in a cardiovascular sort of way.

I build random forts in the woods, last summer I made 4 (I never stay in them, they're just fun to build)

I fish

I visit the gun range once a month

I play paintball almost every weekend

hmm
Can't think of anything else doom related right now

I think your post inspired me to purchase a bow...

That one is important. Not always so easy to do in a society where empty calorie and enjoyable things (pizza, margaritas, ect) are at the heart of our culture and social gatherings.

That is something I'm trying to get more comfortable with. I've always been more of an indoors person.

honestly, I don't. I spend a lot of time playing video games... but after a 4 hour session something in my head jolts through my body and tells me to go outside and get some sun

MMA: THAT will come in as handy as anything... it is also something that might save your ass before the apocalypse. Knowing how to put someone to sleep with your bare hands is priceless- it is also a great equalizer- a woman skilled at MMA can defeat many/most men who have no working understanding of the concepts.

Locksport: being able to access locked areas/rooms/homes without making a bunch of noise might be a really good thing to know.

Basic outdoor survival: minimalist backpacking will prepare you psychologically for living with little to nothing in unfamiliar environments- there are many schools teaching outdoor survival these days.

Basic firearms knowledge and marksmanship: Many people own firearms. Some feel more is better, yet they have poor marksmanship skills and understand nothing about weapons care and maintenance.

Psychology: knowing how people will react (sometimes before even they do) is priceless... understanding how to barter... and what to look for in a person who might or might not be trustworthy or "sane" will come in extremely useful.
