Anonymous Coward User ID: 68540314 United States 03/23/2016 04:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think the best thing anyone can do for a veteran today is simply listen to them if they have something to beef about with the va system. Because sometimes the worst feeling in the world is simply that of not being heard. Quoting: jesskeira Kadwalladeyr and for all so many veterans have given, and some gave all.. they deserve so much more than that. so much more than they are getting. perhaps to even accompany a veteran as they attempt to navigate the system in it's complexity at times would help.. No one 'deserves' a thing. I support the Soldiers proudly, but when a certain group or person says the 'deserve' something it creates a much less likable response. In all reality, heads need to roll to make a change. Revolution type of thinking. Could the state of AMERICA be more fucked up than it is right now.? Probably, but is your cause worth your life, your family or your buddies life. I have my set of 'would die for' morals, Do you have anothether set? Because the first one didn't work out . Thanks for your service Soldier. |

Quoting: jesskeira Kadwalladeyr but yeah... less than fifty..just the start and finish, but the meat of the story is at the link. No fury at this...just a pissed off resignation that the endless battle is truly against the bullshit red tape and utter indifference of bureaucracy. The Department of Veterans Affairs is suspending the head of the Veterans Benefits Administration for allowing two lower-ranking officials to manipulate the agency's hiring system for their own gain. Deputy VA Secretary Sloan Gibson says acting VBA chief Danny Pummill will be suspended without pay for 15 days for his role in a relocation scam that has roiled the agency for months. Pummill failed to exercise proper oversight as Kimberly Graves and Diana Rubens forced lower-ranking managers to accept job transfers and then stepped into the vacant positions themselves, keeping their senior-level pay while reducing their responsibilities, Gibson said Tuesday. Pummill is one of VA's five highest-ranking officials and leads VBA's employees across 56 regional offices nationwide that provide compensation and pension benefits, life insurance, home loans and other services to millions of veterans. and.. Accountability at the VA "is almost non-existent," Miller said. "One thing is clear: this dysfunctional status quo will never change until we eliminate arcane civil service rules that put the job security of VA bureaucrats ahead of the veterans they are charged with serving." [link to www.wtol.com] Years ago I worked as an outsider (bed fixer guy) and one of our clients was the VA. It was a running joke that you'd spend the entire day there because either "everyone" was in charge or "no one" was in charge. in other words either everyone spent their days contradicting the last person who asked you to do something or everyone spent their days avoiding being the last name to sign your work order. Meanwhile the veteran lay there getting bed sores because nobody cared about 'that part'. They just needed to get the paperwork done. Really pathetic. Anonymous Coward User ID: 71864367 United States 03/23/2016 05:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Many people are on the fence about supporting vets. While many of the vets are well meaning citizens and deserve all the help they can get the military doesn't care to filter the bad vets from the good vets. Without filtering them as heros or despicable people and separating the cream from the curd too many people are beginning to just not care about the group as a whole. This all began shortly after Vietnam. The problem? I'll explain. You see when anyone during their military service commits a sex offense against another soldier or even a foreign child or person the military handles it internally, secretly keeping the facts from American civilians. While people froth at the mouth over a civilian Sex offender or Pedo they will never find out which vets are good wholesome people and which vets are offenders. The vet that just got a free new house, the vet that lives right next door to you or maybe even under your roof might be a sex offender and you will never know about it until it is too late. Too many people are awake now to the facts and until the "good vets" also join in to out the offenders records and demand them to become public (like listed on your local pedophile/offender web sites to mother's can protect their children... Too many people now look down on all vets as a whole. Everyone should write their congressman and demand the bed vets be filtered out and posted as offenders so the good vets can be helped and praised as they deserve. |
