(OP) User ID: 68695271 United States 02/27/2016 09:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you got out AMA (against medical advice) then you didn't do the whole stay. I've worked with girls that go in and out over and over and put 2 in rehab. Next time go 4 weeks if not long term depending on how long you've had your addicton(s) and your background and if you can get funding. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49135054 Stay away from old "friends", they'll drag you back. Move away if you can. Only associate with those without drug use history if you know anyone. If you are in my area I'd help you. I meant "ask me anything" I drank alone. Eta: I didn't get to choose how long I got to stay, the docs determined it. I wanted to stay longer. Or maybe my stupid insurance decided. I'm sorry if my original post sounded harsh. Last Edited by deej76 on 02/27/2016 10:18 AM Formerly faint |

When you reach the absolute bottom, you will seek him, in as last ditch attempt to bring some meaning to your existence....at that point, when you know you are totally powerless, he will reveal himself to you, and over time you will realise just how incredibly important you are. Then you will no longer need substances to cope. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71271152 I am a Christian, but we are all sinners. Formerly faint |

I had tried many many times to get sober and always wound up relapsing. There is no set plan, what worked for one may not for another. What didnt work for you may for another and so forth. Just realizing that you cannot control this without help, and anything you do to try to get help is progress. It wont happen overnight, but work out a plan witj someone to take steps, such drastic change in your life can be very overwhelming, especially with how hectic life is without addiction. You just have to know that you can do this, and with the help of trained professionals it will have much better chances for success. You are not alone, there are many many support groups and people who have decided to re-claim their lives. Deplorable and proud of It!! Trump 2024 MAGAA |

Why did you leave and after how many days. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69246718 I do have a support system and I'm doing half-day therapy for the next 10 days as well. I was in for a full week. That was the average stay. Stay strong, it's going to be a lot more time than that, you don't want to be in that "average" category, those are relapsers. |

I'm planning on trying out different AA groups to find a good fit, the AA'ers who talked to us were awesome, down to earth folks. I have friends in AA and it's saved their lives (literally and figuratively). Thanks for your post! Formerly faint |

That was the average stay. A week? I don't see how that can do anything for someone. It's a damn good start and these folks worked their butts off to get me ongoing treatment and a crisis plan in action. Many were going on to 2 year programs, but they also had gotten to the point that they had no support system and were basically homeless. I'm not really in that category, so this was a big kick in the ass for me. Believe me, five days of confinement and therapy can do a LOT. Cure? Never. But it got me on the right path. Find a group with women with good long-term sobriety and hang onto those women for dear life. They don't have to be your best buddies and pal-around friends, but they have much to share with you that will transform your life. People who've stayed sober multiple years have made at least small changes every aspect of their lives, but it's a slow, step-at-a-time process. Rehab friendships are good, but they aren't enough. I'll pray for you. More deplorable all the time. |

(OP) User ID: 68695271 United States 02/27/2016 10:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Faint I would hate to say it but 10 days is not nearly enough. That's just enough to get clean but are you sober? I have been sober for a year on April 9th 2016. I went to inpatient for 28 days. If I only went to get clean and didn't learn skills to stay sober I wouldn't be sober. I also have done 7 months of outpatient rehab which I'm almost finished with Come March 18th. On top of that I'm doing outside na meeting because I was addicted to heroin. My suggestion is ya better get new friends. People, places, and things. Anyways good luck and stay focused. Idle hands is the devils play ground. Quoting: Jdem02 70889067 You know the #1 reason everyone gave for using? Boredom. Just like you said, "idle hands..." I thought it was just me. I was kind of stunned. I have considered and still am, a 28-day program. I do NOT EVER want to relapse. I'm going to do 90 in 90 and my goal is no white chip. I don't have any drinking buddies, unless you count GLP ;-). I was a solitary drinker. Probably the worst type. I just liked to be left alone. I used to drink socially, but as the disease progressed, I realized if I secluded myself, there was less chance I'd make an ass of myself. Sometimes. Formerly faint |

Most people were in for heroin, though. I see. How much did you drink? Did you drink all day or just for a few hours drinking a bottle of wine? I often drink for a couple hours before I hit the bed. I do need to cut back on the amount of alcohol though. Not sure if I can quit drinking entirely though but I could use a break from it and do a cleansing program for a month or so but that's probably the best I can do since everybody drinks and I'd have no life if I wanted to quit completely so I have to try and reduce the amount of booze every night. I'm getting tired of feeling tired all day long. I do work out and mostly eat clean but this is ridiculous. |

I met a girl over a year ago that I've been helping. She used to speedball and live on the streets. She's in a 6 month program now. I'm not looking forward to her getting out cause I'm tired of fighting with her. She's reluctant to walk away from her so called "friends". |
