You're being thrown off by the scale. The camera is very very close to the surface, the animal is quite small.

And although it may not be monstrous in scale, it does look to be at least 5-10 feet long. angles wrong camera close to the ground its only a few of feet I see that but look at the tail end descending into the water. I figure it probably tapers off at the end and it doesn't appear to be doing that as far as we can see. Leads me to suspect that's about 1/2 - 2/3 of its body length.
