People focus too much on what the Koran says and doesn't say to determine if Muslims' behavior is derived from religion or not. This is a flawed thinking. The reality is that Muslims in many Muslim nations totally thwart the religion and imbue it with cultural influences of their own to justify their own crimes (see honor killings). The ultimate reality is that those religious books can be interpreted in any way that the priest in turn wants. The corrupt mobs will distort meanings to suit their own desires. Religion is truly worthless to begin with if the people who follow it are unenlightened, yet it's undeniable that all Abrahamic holy books are full of violence and oppression. Even the Torah has passages about smashing babies against rocks. If someone really wanted they could say that it justifies them to smash babies against rocks, even if someone will say that the passage doesn't apply to today or whatever, people wont give a shit
