PayPal Scam?
Got an email from them this morning saying I had added new email account, BUT I had not. the email really looked official so I went to the site in the email to clear up the problem. Website looks EXACTLy like Paypal's.
Instead of taking me to email page they wanted all kinds of personal info - Name, credit card numbers etc, the whole works. Of course, I backed out immediately and gave them nothing.
Has anyone else got one of these scam letters?

No did not delete. I have not reported it to paypal as of yet, but that is why I didn't delete. In case They wanted it. I have gotten many scam letters before, but this was the most realistic one ever. I am afraid the scammers will be very sucessful with this one - it looks so real, and can fool someone not very experienced with the internet.

I did a couple years ago... I sent them worms... a really bad case of them and from what I heard their site/servers shut down for at least a week. Gotta love phishing... they want the worm? I'll be happy to give them what they don't want.

Re: PayPal Scam?
Phishing bastards!

I've had one from PayPal and one from Bank of America (don't even have an account with them lol)

Check your account, change your password to something really abominable with special characters, numbers and upper and lower case letters. I(f it's to do with your cash then make sure every bank account credit card etc has a different password and regularly do a scan for worms and keyloggers and any other nasties.

Also forward the e-mail to PayPal

I like to fill it out, just to fcuk with them. I go by my Chinese name, Phuck Hiu.

I figure it gets them all excited to see one actually filled out. I bet it's fun when they try to use the info, too.

I've gotten them before. It's called "phishing" The link the scam email "provides" goes to some phony website set up on a server in a third world country.

You can see this link by moving your mouse icon over the link and it'll show up in display bar of your browser(on the bottom). It's obvious the link doesn't go to paypal.com.

What the scammer counts on is the victim not paying attention to where the link goes or verifying whether the e-mail is really from Paypal.

Of course PayPal clearly states that they don't send out e-mails asking for information.

In it's basic structure, it's just a variation of the old "Bank of Nigeria" scam.

This is correct. Report it asap. I got two in two days.

Paypal confirmed that they had not sent them.

Re: PayPal Scam?
Here's a really good paypal scam. I was the victim this time. Here's what you do. Sign up for a paypal account with an unconfirmed address. Just use your credit card and you can be a member of paypal. Then, buy something (preferrably big dollar value) from an honest seller on ebay. A few weeks later, when you have the item in hand, contact your credit card company (through whom you have your paypal account). File for a chargeback through your credit card. Claim something lame, like item wasn't as described. Then, sit back and wait for your credit card to do their dirty work. They contact paypal, paypal takes the money right out of the sellers account....AND you don't even have to return the item. Double whammy. Some white trash filth named Pam Campbell in Alabama pulled this scam on me. She got her money back and got to keep the item I sold her on ebay. Merry fucking Christmas.

Yep, some asshat tried that one on me too, but they got fooled ! I have a separate bank account for paypal ebay transactions, when i sell something and recieve payment with paypal i immeadiatly do a transfer from the ebay/paypal bank account into my regular account, that way if some asshat tries to do a chargeback like that there won't be anything in that account. But paypal can be asstards and cancell or restrict you're account. Some good info here : [link to www.paypalsucks.com] . microwave P.s. - always get somesort of proof of shipping, ie, recipt, tracking # ect. .
Just passing thru.
