Am at the Starbucks on the pier...been feeling lots of shaking going on. I've experienced real earthquakes in California and am not sure what to think. Cannot find anything on news sites either.

The weird part is I don't feel the actual ground shaking, just hear the garage door rattling back and forth and it is NOT windy at all here.

Indeed! I am seeing people its possible military training at Fort Dix but they deny having any training exercises going on today. Plus they ALWAYS send out information days ahead of time letting people know what time they are doing it.

Re: Earthquake in NJ?
From our report (not speculating on the cause but this is what happened in the past): "In October 2012, a sonic boom was deemed the culprit of ground shaking felt at the Jersey Shore. In February 2014, another sonic boom rattled the same area.

In the hours after the 2014 incident, John Bellini, a geophysicist with the USGS, told NewsWorks that seismometers only detect vibrations within the ground.

"Air blasts and super sonic booms don't get recorded," he said. "So if it's a sonic boom, thunder, or a transformer exploding, there's no chance of recording it unless it occurs right near the seismometer."

Re: Earthquake in NJ?
Northern New Jersey straddles the Ramapo Fault, a significant ancient crack in the earth’s crust. The longest fault in the Northeast, it begins in Pennsylvania and moves into New Jersey, trending northeast through Hunterdon, Somerset, Morris, Passaic, and Bergen counties before terminating in New York’s Westchester County, not far from the Indian Point Energy Center, a nuclear power plant. And though scientists dispute how active this roughly 200 million-year-old fault really is, many earthquakes in the state’s surprisingly varied seismic history are believed to have occurred on or near it. The fault line is visible at ground level and likely extends as deep as nine miles below the surface.

I would assume its multiple jets at this point?

The width of the boom "carpet" beneath the aircraft is about one mile for each 1000 feet of altitude. An aircraft, for example, flying supersonic at 50,000 feet can produce a sonic boom cone about 50 miles wide

Re: Earthquake in NJ?
Jim Farmer, a homeowner in Bayville, said his "whole house shook back and forth quickly" for about five seconds. Five minutes later, it happened again, and a third time just after 2 p.m..

"It was bizarre and alerting for sure," he told the Press.."I'm used to feeling the explosions from military testing at the (Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst), but these were profoundly different as they carried on and were rattling everything for a period of time."
