Re: Earthquake in NJ?
I felt the shake in Erial (Gloucester Township, Camden County), my sister felt it in Franklinville and my boyfriend in Vineland.

I thought sonic boom because a little over a year ago or so, I felt the same thing on the top floor of my work building, but must have been smaller because fewer people freaked out. Same exact shake, but higher up in the building it was stronger.

I Googled furiously that time after a while a couple news stories came out that a few people felt it and it wasn't an earthquake.

The experts then said it was a sonic boom, but there were no jets nearby. The closest were in Maryland. I don't remember it being such a big deal then, but it was exactly the same.

North Central NJ here. 10:21 PM. House just shook briefly 3 times at about 30 second intervals,

About 3-4 night back at between 1:30 - 2:00 AM there was a good shake which sloshed the water around in our waterbed. Our cat was undisturbed by it all.

USGS @USGS
The Navy has confirmed testing of supersonic aircraft offshore from where sonic booms and shaking were reported.
 Quoting: Gaelic

If the military is testing supersonic aircraft in the NY/NJ there is always some kind
of PRE-warning ahead of time so the public does not barrage 911 with calls.
They didn't do that this time....which means it wasn't them and they are now just making a cover story.

Also....
Someone called into one of the NY/NJ area radio stations this afternoon at the exact time of the BOOMS and said
he saw a tiny silver dot with some kind of halo around it very high up in the sky headed south/southeast at high speed.

Who or what it was is unknown, but it sounds like the military is creating a cover story saying it was theirs.

spock
 Quoting: Useless Cookie Eater

^this x10000. Fort Dix in Central NJ always gives out a week or so notice to the media and they spread the word so people aren't alarmed. I find it extra fishy that the military didn't mention anything until everyone started asking questions on 911 calls/radio stations.

Navy spokeswoman Connie Hempel said supersonic tests flights are done almost daily in the same area but that most sonic booms aren't felt on land. They are conducted offshore in an area called the Test Track, parallel to the coast of the Delmarva Peninsula which is occupied by Delaware, Maryland and Viriginia.

Certain atmospheric conditions can increase the chance of hearing the booms.

Sonic Boom. mystery solved.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69628184

Actually, that "explanation" is part of the mystery. NORAD explicitly stated it knew of no aircraft training in the area which would cause a sonic boom. Hours after NORAD said this, suddenly the fighter jet story surfaced.

And there were EAM's on 8992 and other frequencies during this, continuous ones. Much higher activity than has been reported in months.

Now, that may or may not have been part of the "training" but it doesn't explain why NORAD and other agencies took such a long time to get their story straight.

the field still doesn't think so

the money guys say ~ they are ready. they have to be.

hope they kept the keys to all those sitting in the desert out west ~ they will need them when the f-35 fails

Nice video. Had 3 planes pass over us to break glass. Concorde.. broke bay living room windows, RAF fighter jets cracked windows & everything rattled, but it was the Vulcan that send glass crashing & set off car alarms. Fuck me!.. that's a loud plane! It howled, screamed & thundered it did.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) --
Officials say sonic booms heard and felt along the coast from New Jersey to Connecticut were caused by military fighter jets conducting tests.

A Navy spokeswoman says an F-35C and F-18 from Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, were conducting supersonic testing off the coast Thursday afternoon.

The F-35C has a top speed of nearly 1,200 mph.

RELATED: What causes a sonic boom?

The Navy released the following statement:

"Aircraft from Naval Test Wing Atlantic were conducting routine flight testing in the Atlantic Test Ranges this afternoon that included activities which may have resulted in sonic booms.

The test wing is critical to the safe test and evaluation of all types of Navy and Marine Corps aircraft in service and in development and is primarily based out of Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md.

Other military aircraft, including both Navy and Air Force, also frequently use the ranges for testing and training."

Residents reported hearing loud booms and feeling the ground and buildings shake. The booms were heard as far away as Connecticut.

Thursday's tests were done around 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

A geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey said there were nine total booms. Bruce Presgrave said recordings show they occurred over the span of 90 minutes.

The Department of Defense employs a hotline for noise disturbances for the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River. Questions can be referred to 866-819-9028.

The U.S. Geological Survey first confirmed that the event was a sonic boom.

The USGS explained in a tweet: "A sonic boom travels through the air w/ the airplane so it arrives at different ground locations at different times."

Re: Earthquake in NJ?
Thought sonic booms were greatly reduced or even stopped by putting a high voltage on the leading wing, creating an EHT potential difference, cancels sonic booms & creates less drag. The real flying saucers use EHT around the craft to create a small plasma field, eliminating propagation waves at the low frequency range. ET pilots mentioned to a contactee that the craft's speed cuts thru the air so fast, a sonic boom can't develop effectively. Or so it goes.
