Inside The John Day Meeting Where Oregon Standoff Leaders Were Headed Before The Ambush People Are Saying The Sheriff Set Them Up
"Many people in Grant County are angry about what they feel is the government's mismanagement of the Malheur National Forest. They're angry about the raging forest fire this summer that destroyed more than 25 homes. They say if they were given more freedom to log and graze, the forest would be better managed.

That's the view of Jim Sproul, a 63-year-old John Day native who was one of the early arrivals at the senior center on Tuesday. At 4:30 p.m., he was inside setting up chairs.

Sproul's family settled in John Day at the turn of the century, becoming ranchers. Growing up, Sproul remembers a vibrant community, with several sawmills. But the federal government stepped in, he said, curtailing logging and grazing rights.

Sproul supports the message but not the method of the occupiers.

"These folks are not terrorists," Sproul said. "This is way bigger than the Bundys. It's bigger than the citizens of Grant and Harney counties. This is a national problem."

Tad Houpt, the local logger who organized the meeting, called it off. But another man, an out-of-towner, said it should go forward.

A woman, wearing a red, white and blue shirt, went to the front, several kids in tow. She said she was a singer and had gone to the refuge to serenade the occupiers. She said God had sent her. She cried and broke into Gospel songs.

But then someone punctured the mood, questioning whether the sheriff had set Bundy up by calling him to the meeting.

The room exploded, with shouting for and against the sheriff. By then, Palmer had vanished, turning up later at the roadblock on along U.S. 395 north of Burns.

Great Post OP, I admire your attempt to keep this in the discussion. The Oregonian Newspaper is a leftwing rag wipe, just read the comments under the story.

When the news first broke about the ambush, they had written that the Bundys were headed to John Day to form a shadow government and take over a new building.

Fuck the Oregonian newspaper, and the Statesman Urinal.

Read somewhere else that there was a set-up, could tell in the voice of the Agent(?) who spoke to Bundy, before he left for the meeting.

I, along with many other Gun Owners testified in the State Capitol against the new gun law requiring background checks for private transfers. I sat 3' from Palmer, talked a lot with him before, during and after his testimony.

He told Prozanski in no uncertain terms, there are laws he will enforce and this private party law won't be by his agency. He clearly stated he has real crime to attend to and will enforce those laws without question and considers this gun grab to be a treasonous act.

I dont blame Palmer, he's a good sheriff and his back was against the wall, he had to be there without question to make sure the Feds most likely didn't kill everyone.

31 counties in Oregon and only 11 of them have sheriffs worth a flying fuck. I have no beef with sheriffs or OSP, FBI either, because I don't do stupid shit like take over a fed building. I would have taken over the Hammond Ranch, ran the show while Hammond was locked up and kept it out of the BLM hands.....that's a hero move, Bundy did a Dumbshit move.

He could have gained major respect, showed true leadership and bravery, but he still has my respect for trying to do what he thought was correct. Few people stood, atleast he tried.

RIP LeVoy.

It's wrong in so many ways what led up to it and everybody loses. It's sad that people would wish the death of another human being they know nothing about. They'd exhausted everything else. I thought about that but they needed some place to gather. Who cares about Uncle Fed anyway, they lied and deceived at every point along the way. They've turned our Constitution into toilet paper.

Question for whoever can answer....
How many people are left at the reserve?
Imo i think its kinda silly everybody making a big deal about being set up. I mean cmon i expected that they would do this with as much as they wanted to leave the reserve, and the feds not just rollin in there as soon as this started. It was a perfect tactic, that worked. I kinda just smh when i learned that one guy went home to AZ and got busted there, and then these guys get busted in a roadblock. Dont you think that its kinda a poor joke that they didnt think that this would happen?

What I don't understand is why those guys just thought that they could occupy a Govt building and then just roll around through the area going to all these different meetings and stuff.

Surely every time they loaded into the car the Feds were itching to pull them over like they finally did.

Re: Inside The John Day Meeting Where Oregon Standoff Leaders Were Headed Before The Ambush People Are Saying The Sheriff Set Them Up
Yes i believe the Sheriff set them up.

And here is what it will play like if i am a Superhuman and on the way to Oregon Burns, and i am approached by those stupid Police

*Me sees a barricade or blockade half a mile away.*

*looks to the left and right side and thinking Hm maybe i can slip over to the side and hide as i move forward, then thinking Neh, i rather engage them Head-on*

I start walking towards the blockades carrying nothing but my sword. Akatsuki style

Police start to notice me and comes towards me

Police: Put your hands in the air Now!

Me: No, im just going to my destination towards the Refuge where the militia's are. Let me be. leave me alone.

Police: PUT Your HAnds in the Air NOW! You are under Arrest!

They started to come towards me viciously with handcuffs out trying to intimidate me

Me: NO! Shut your fucken dam mouth up before i kick your fucken ass. I Dont care that you guys have guns, without guns you guys are Nothing! you dont intimidate me.

and without guns you guys are just wussys , and it's come to just one-on-one or One-on-five bare knuckles. and i can easily take All yall.

The Police starts to get scared for second there.

They wanted to tackle me but see my samurai sword. and hesitant while still holding their guns aiming at me.

One cops calls for more backup! and i Laughed in my mind. what can i do they are about Five and im only one with no guns. only a sword. and they probably have bulletproof vest. They dont play fair. and now they want backup!

At this point the police thinking they has no option but to use their guns.

One police goes above the Law and Opened fire.

A Loud Bang followd by another , the bullets start to move in slow mo, i can see it , i suddenly reflect the bullet with my sword. The police stopped firing and couldn't believe what they just witness. Little did they know im a Super human that can dodge bullets . and what im about to do next will surprise them.

i start to run through them with speeds of 160 miles per hour. and in seconds i was out of view. running towards the milita refuge center. to meet up with them.

The police stood there with Shock and some felt relieve i didnt slice them up. well im going to after i meet up with the militia and will be back to tear them up. and destroy their squad tanks and police cars. so other militias can come join. AFter this incident they will be too afraid to setup another Roadblocks.
