X-Files rules! :) Too funny.

Wolfy don't forget these threads are archived for eternity. So make it good.
I was surprised the Goog bots are sweeping GLP almost too fast to edit original posts here!

I did see Tooms in the opening which that brought back memories of sleepless nights.
 Quoting: davvi

One of the best pieces of horror fiction ever aired.

I was off on some international adventure and my ex-wife watched it alone.

Called me and asked when I was coming home, because this X-Files had just freaked her right the fuck out, and she was locking all the doors and windows etc.

She was still freaked out a week later.

Did the writers of this new mini-series get some of their content from right here on GLP?

Are TPTB concerned that too much information will be disseminated to the general public?

Will there be another season after the 6 episodes in this season-10 mini-series?

What do you think about this new mini-series? Share your opinions here.

Remember to watch episode 2 tonight (Monday, 2016-01-25) on Fox at 8 pm EST. Note that the remaining episodes will all air on Mondays.

Re: What's your opinion of the X-Files mini-series premiere?
If the current story line is "true" then they basically just nullified the first 9 seasons, kind of a dick move.

Make no mistake, Carter is not a GLPer, He's is a diehard liberal (See 2 jabs at W. in the episode). He will end up making a mockery of GLP.

You could see that Duchovny and Anderson had "lost" their characters. Maybe they will regain their mojo in further episodes.

Overall it was just ok... It was a lot of exposition and the episode had no real plot. I know its a "mini-series" but, my understanding is there are supposed to be 4 stand alone episodes bookended by mythology episodes.

My opinion kind of mirrors that of the new Star Wars. They could have done anything, and that's the best they came up with?

Re: What's your opinion of the X-Files mini-series premiere?
Serious pacing issues. Seemed like they tried to pack a lot into the first episode.

It was interesting that they went in the direction of the truth movement and explained that the entire alien agenda had been a smoke screen created by the syndicate from the original series. Doesn't really add up with everything that took place throughout the original series. Too many alien events (the black oil, the virus, the alien rebels) could not be explained away as government hoaxes. But I'm sure they will throw us for a loop by the end of it.

The first 3 minutes were the best part of the episode. Those UFO scenes were chilling. Makes me yearn even more for a serious film on the UFO phenomenon. It's still never been tackled.

Very excited for what's to come.

But, a lot of that information was around long before GLP or its forerunner.

In the first return episode, paranormal investigators Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) team up with a charming web-series host named Tad O’Malley (played by the usually comedic Joel McHale, here in a dramatic role). The character, loosely based on conservative online personalities Alex Jones and Glenn Beck, bashes the “liberal media” in the episode; at one point, Mulder compares O’Malley to Fox News host Bill O’Reilly (“What Bill O’Reilly knows about the truth can fill an eyedropper,” O’Malley retorts).
