Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71170006 ^this^ When the New Madrid lets go, even if by some miracle the facilities up and down the Mississippi do not sustain any seismic damage, everywhere the grid has failed will send the nuclear reactors into emergency shut down and back up generator cooling. God help us if the cooling pools or piping are damaged in a New Madrid quake scenario. The middle of America would be practically glowing. The only thing that saved New Jersey during "hurricane" Sandy was the fact that the tide went out. ONE FOOT MORE TO MELTDOWN – A nuclear “near miss” USA It seems we came within 1 foot of our very own Fukishima during Hurricane Sandy. If the sea level had been 1.2 feet higher it would have breached the Oyster Creek nuclear power plant’s flood defenses and shut down their diesel powered generators that were required to cool the plant. This is exactly what happened at Fukushima. Oyster Creek is an identical design to Fukushima. How come we haven’t heard about this in the MSM? I’m no expert, but when a category 1 hurricane surge can come within 1 or 2 feet of breaching a nuclear power plant, someone should be worried. Are you? [link to nuclear-news.net] |

Here's a thought: what makes up the electrical power when coal-fired plants are shut down? What plants are run at 100% around the clock to make up the difference? Nuclear. That's what. An unintended consequence of Obama's meddling with our power infrastructure. Trying to save us from that necessary gas carbon dioxide, Obama puts us at risk of a meltdown by running our nuclear plants full blast. Hope and change. |

Just go back to how i learned to love the bomb.the last five minutes explains it all.a hundred years of fallout,10 women to each man in a bunker. The rest are left to nature. Fukushima is a test bed. Anonymous Coward User ID: 71231994 United Kingdom 01/13/2016 02:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ill translate. the power failed on the feed into the main steam isolation valve. resulting in one turbine getting more steam than the other. the pumps that are responsible for putting water into the system tripped and stopped pumping. which caused the reactor to run dry and nearly meltdown. if they had not have pushed the rods in, in time, or the system also became faulty, it would have been an entirely different story. they then reset everything and magically it was working again then this happened two more times in a row. the plant is running at external power input while they check everything. |

It is about stopping the proposed long term storage of hi-grade nuclear fuel in a repository around the Great Lakes. Please think back to what has recently occured at Nye County NV. Hanford WA. Carlsbad, NM (WIPP) Do we really want to risk the contamination of the Lakes (worse than they already are) and everything downstream? 96,000 more signatures are needed for this drive.
