Not since the 1960s.. and even then the establishment got it down to 30 seconds, that the time frame it took for the condemned to leave the cell to being dead..
Very efficient, no waiting around for last min reprieves or all the other ceremony that surrounds executions, which to be honest just seems cruel... the fastest execution took place on 8 May 1951, that was the execution of James Inglis, it took 7 seconds to go from the condemned cell to the bottom of the rope..
