Love and compassion. Not fear :)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71064503

The most important one not to fear is God. Don't fear God, love God and be as close as possible to God.

And if God tells you that you have to support the government letting these people in to use our welfare and other systems, then I suppose you ought to listen to that. God doesn't tell me anything of the sort and encourages me to act in a way of total self-respect.

You can't love others properly until you really really love yourself.

Proverbs9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70447432

Fear as in great respect. Not fear which cancels out love.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71060671

From my perspective I think of it as a scientist would, one who studies nature with great reverence and awe. But those are a part of love.

You should be ashamed of yourself for ignoring the writings of the founding fathers and the teachings of Jesus Christ. American Christians are some of the most selfish and mean spirited people on Earth. If he were alive today he would call you out.

Your spirit is not aligned with Christ that is why you react as you do, many shall be counted as hypocrites perhaps look at yourself as a Christian and see are you truly living tot he standard required. Blessed are they who understand the meaning of compassion who pray also for their enemy's, thou is overcome by fear giving by the adversary and the result is hatred.
 Quoting: LightofChrist 47437800

Christ never had to deal with nut job muslims who strap bombs on their back. Is that clear enough for you, you stupid ass bogan.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42366748

Jesus also did not have to deal with a bunch of Global pirates that are using a fake ass religion created in Yeshuas good name for their own global conquests and military adventurism. Funny how we bless our bombs before we go and maim thousands of women and kids that never hurt us, is that what Jesus would want ?
 Quoting: professor 69595128

The CFR hasn't been Christian for 100 years. The fact is American Christians don't want war and by nature are isolationists. And have to be constantly tricked in to going to war.

Your neo-con, Schofield, Israel-first, American Protestants do have a great tendency to be war mongers but then again they are easily manipulated from the top.

I suspect if we last that long, in a decade, Schofield Christians will more rainbowized, and to the left of Trotsky than Obama or Hillary. Gay marriage and gay ministers will be as common as supporting Israel at the expense of America.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71060671

I suggest you check scripture again. Any Christian, who opens their door, community, or nation, to non Christian's, is responsible for the sins of the non Christian. Since you can't ask forgiveness, for sin's you, yourself did not commit.....

Re: My Church Wants to Support "Refugee's"....I almost puked during the presentation.
The best way to support Syrian refugees is to make conditions in their country better. Here's how...

The U.S. should arm and support Syrian President Assad's army to clean out "ISIS"/al-Nusra/al Qaeda from Syria. Who better to be boots on the ground than the actual people of Syria -- the Syrian Army.

In concert with Russian aerial bombardment of these same terrorists' positions, terrorists in Syria would be cleaned out in 3 to 6 months.

The real question is: Why aren't we doing that?

The obvious answer is that the prevailing policy in the U.S. is (although it seems they're opening to compromise) that Assad has to go. But why?

Why would the U.S. FIRST AND FOREMOST seek the ouster of Syria's legitimate President Bashar al-Assad? I thought fighting terrorism (in the form of "ISIS"/al-Nusra/al Qaeda) was our biggest concern? Indeed, it's not Assad who seeks war with the U.S. It's these radical Sunni terror groups who have taken over parts of Syria and seek Assad's ouster.

What the U.S. claims it wants, and what U.S. actions demonstrate are completely opposite. What is the old saying?... "Watch what I do; not what I say." And, "Actions speak louder than words".

The U.S. neoconservative agenda -- the prevailing foreign policy since 2001 -- is beginning to reveal itself to the mainstream in America now. The world knew it for what it was pretty quickly. But now the very people whose tax dollars pay for these ideological and corporate money-making foreign excursions using the public's money and blood, are being exposed.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60091995

Another thing...

The U.S. has been hesitant to provide the Kurds the heavy weapons they have asked for. Why? Because our "ally" (cough! cough!) Turkey fears the Kurds. The Kurds have been fighting for a homeland of their own, carved out from small pieces of Turkey, Iraq, and Syria for a long time. Also, Turkey's Erdogan has always sought the destabilization of President Assad in Syria, hoping for a sort of Muslim Brotherhood in Syria to replace Assad. LOL! Isn't that exactly what happened after President Hosni Mubarak's ouster in Egypt? The Muslim Brotherhood took power, allegedly tried to change the Egyptian Constitution, and they were overthrown by the Egyptian military, with General el-Sisi as the new leader. So a secular military general was overthrown (Mubarak), replaced by a radical sect of Islam (Muslim Brotherhood), only to be replaced with another secular military general (el-Sisi) after the Egyptian people realized what they had voted in.

It's time for Erdogan and Turkey to bite the bullet. We've had their back for a long time. They have gotten off scot-free from any repercussions of the million-person slaughter of Armenians in the early 20th century. For you Israel supporters, Turkey had that humanitarian ship to Gaza fiasco, riling up tensions with Israel. The Kurds deserve a homeland. Everyone else has one. They've been a staunch ally of the West in most cases, even after we've left them twisting in the wind on more than one occasion.

It's time to arm the Kurds with the heavy weaponry they need to rout "ISIS" from eastern Syria. This, along with supporting and arming the Syrian Army from the west, and Russian airstrikes from above, will be the trifecta that will crush "ISIS"/al-Nusra/al Qaeda in Syria once and for all.

Also, we need to stop the flow of "ISIS" oil crossing from Syria into Turkey, and "ISIS" fighters, weapons, and supplies crossing from Turkey into Syria. That border is the lifeline of "ISIS". The Russians are doing an effective job of stopping that cross-border flow. A well-equipped Syrian Army and Kurdish army would increase that effectiveness.

Turkey's Erdogan (and Iraq and Assad) should be forced to accept a modest Kurdish homeland carved out of relatively small pieces of their countries. God knows those three countries and their European-constructed borders have been living on borrowed time for almost a century now. It's time to correct the Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1916; at least for the Kurds. They've more than earned it.

Re: My Church Wants to Support "Refugee's"....I almost puked during the presentation.
I go to a mega church in my area and have been really, really happy there....until this morning.

As part of the "Christmas" offering they are asking for money to go to three causes. The second cause I would support because it is local and affects my community. The third cause however made me almost puke as they presented it this morning.

They had the founder of a non profit group speak about the Syrian crisis and how our church wants to help support this cause. They played pictures on the big screens of children, women crying holding dirty, hurt children, towns in total rubble, etc. They even talked about the story of the 3 year old boy who washed up on a shore dead. Yes, this story was debunked here on GLP and if memory serves me found that Alnon (or whatever the kids name was), was actually killed by his father and it was a propaganda shoot or something like that.

During the slide show questions and statements flooded the pictures shown like "Jesus was a refugee", "there was no room at the Inn when Jesus was born, don't be an inn keeper", etc. I literally almost vomited and had to control my emotions cause my soul was SCREAMING inside. I seriously almost stood up and started screaming about how blind our church leaders were being. My husband had to grab my wrist to stop me from blurting out obscenities.

Our pastor asked this man who is helping these "refugees" how we can know they are "safe". His response was that in all the history of refugees coming from syria starting in the 80's that NONE have committed acts of terrorism. He went on to say that many are Christians and the ones who are muslim have been visiting area churches wanting to know more about "Christianity".

I wanted to scream WAKE THE F%^$ UP!!!!! It's a sham! The refugees who are coming in are NOT Christian and they are NOT families. i'd venture that over 98% are young fighting age males. The numbers this man shared about how many have already come into California blew my mind. He said OVER 35,000 have already moved into Southern California this year ALONE!!!

I hate to say it but we are on the verge of being F%&^ed in the arse. Today totally blindsided me because my church has never supported a cause like this or gotten involved in something so controversial. The mood in the congregation changed, people were visibly uncomfortable. The man from the agency spoke about ISIS and their vetting process. He tried to reassure over 1000 people that their vetting process works.

I call BULLSHIT....Better yet I call PIG SHIT! I am SO totally sick over this I likely won't go back to my church. I am just totally blown away. People need to wake the frick up. These are NOT our friends. These are NOT people we can trust. There is NO vetting process that works. It's been proven and even reported in the media that our vetting process DOESN:T work.

As a Christian, I get it, we are suppose to help others. HOWEVER, I will NOT sacrifice my families safety for this cause. Jesus doesn't want us to welcome the enemy.

I gotta take my daughter to a birthday party so i'll be offline for awhile but wanted to vent and share this. Thanks for listening to my rant. XOXO

The first 40 minutes or so is Bracken. The rest is Jim Willie. So less than 40 minutes and well worth it. IMHO, he's got it nailed. In a nutshell, Bracken postulates that the reason for the Islamic invasion is to destroy current EU national border and institute a giant EU superstate.

To do that, young jihadist are being shipped in along with guns and bombs. He thinks the carnage will be at WWI and WW II levels, and will not wait for years, but until the most radical think they have a chance, then the rest will follow at the same time, not piece meal. He gives a history lesson on something similar, the Tet offensive and the IRA bombing brought to London.

I'm sorry but who are you to judge me and my relationship with Christ? The only person I have to stand before is Christ on judgement day and He alone is the only one who's judgement matters. As a Christian you should know not to pass judgement upon me. I am very much "aligned" with Christ and before calling me a hypocrite maybe you should look upon yourself. I know compassion. I've been a nurse for 15 years. I serve the poor. I serve the needy. I do so ALWAYS giving thanks to God. Just because I will not take part in this does not make me less in God's eyes.

We each have our own relationship with Christ and you have no right to say that I do not measure up or am aligned with Him. He knows my heart better than anyone and only He can judge me. I stand firm in my belief and will not shutter to stand before Him on judgement day based on this.

Jesus doesn't want us to be pacifist nor does He want us to put ourselves in danger. When He sent out the disciples the first time He told them to go with no purse, no bag or sandals. They lacked nothing. People were friendlier, and their opposition grew over 3 years. The second time He sent them out He told them that if they didn't have a sword to sell their cloaks and buy one. See, Jesus knew that as His opposition grew they needed protection. Jesus does NOT expect us to live unprotected.

I use that as an example to try to get you to see that turning the other cheek or allowing yourself to be hurt is NOT what Jesus wants. As Christians we have a God given right to stand up for what we believe in. Christ IS my Savior and He will wage war on this evil that lies in Syria. Prophecy is being fulfilled before us my friend. You are being a progressive relig-a-tard. Secular in your thinking. You need to open your eyes and see the bigger picture.

1 Peter 5:8-9 ESV

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

Luke 11:21 “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed.

Psalm 34:14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

I am seeking peace by not partaking in supporting the refugees. You can agree to disagree all you want but you have NO right to judge my relationship with Christ.

Jesus would be Sickened At the Religion That has formed in his Name .

Not to mention the scumbag OP who claims to be Christian.

Why do we have to help them here? They can be helped in their own country. Find out how Syrian Christians are NOT being helped. What about the Coptic Christians in Egypt? The yhzidi? Save your judgement.

Being a Christian does not mean being a robot, or having to take abuse, which is what you are doing. It's spiritual abuse to tell someone they aren't Christian if they don't do what you feel is right.

THIS^^^ Saudi Araba has the room to house them. They can do it but won't. There are other muslim countries they can go to but they don't. They won't take them. I am all for helping Christian families stuck in Syria. I'll send clothing, i'll give to a legit agency but I will not support bringing them here when we can't vet them. We can't ensure our safety.

You are right on, being a Christian does not mean always being pc, taking abuse or being a robot. Jesus wants us to assert ourselves.

You should have stood up and stated what is really happening with this so called refugee problem. No doubt others in your congregation share your opinions. If no one speaks out nothing will be done to stop it. The next time you go there you better say something.

If the leaders of the church want to help, they should get on the next bus and go ever there.

Hopefully by the time the bus is a few hundred feet under water, they will come to their senses.
Yes, I did cure my Stage 4 cancer in two weeks when I was 48. I also reversed my chronic kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) when I was 25. In neither case were any medical treatments involved.

Please. Don't tell me you pay 10% of your income to this church.

Seven pages later, it is obvious to me and only ONE other poster who mentioned the fact that this is a SPIRITUAL BATTLE.

That's the crux of this entirely. We are in a spiritual battle - leading up to the FINAL BATTLE (I believe), and we Christians need to be CLOTHED IN OUR ARMOUR, "prayed up," prepared for battle in every way, and RESTING IN CHRIST.

I'll be honest, I don 't want to be in this final, spiritual battle. I don't want to die for my faith. I don't want to live in fear for my faith in my own country/city, etc. I'm a coward. I fear I will falter, I'm telling the truth!

But GOD KNOWS BETTER THAN I DO what I am to do, what I am here to do for HIS KINGDOM, and what I am capable of "enduring." and I hope I do "endure to the end" for Him.

Only time will tell if I am able.

Since this whole "ISIS" thing began, and more and more atrocities have occurred all over the world, I am finding myself praying more and seeking God, and deepening my relationship with Him more and more. I think we all need to do this. Times are going to get very hairy soon.

The beautiful thing about megachurches are that they are businesses operating against the law as non profits and they will fail even faster than the economy does. Every mega church "pastor" should have pictures of his car and house right on the door to get into the megafacility...might make the parishioners a little skiddish on those donations.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68474273

This church may be one of the few where the pastor is humble. I think he is blind right now and doesn't really know the truth which is unfortunate. He drives a mini van. Lives in a standard house, nothing spectacular and his salary is less than I make as a nurse. Today was a total shock.
