Glad you won the case, OP, and RIP to the little fella. Shit must have scarred you for life... hope you recover with time.

And why would anyone set their dogs on a cat just because it got into their garden?

WTF is this sick world coming to when people do shit like that for fun?

That bitch deserved a harsher penalty.

I remember when you found that little fella. He was so cute and so precious and I was so grateful he'd found a family to live out his days with.

I'm also happy to know that this woman will be held accountable from now on. It doesn't do much to ease the pain of loss, but at least we know that others will not have to endure the same horrible pain that you and your family have had to endure.

Merry Christmas, Chrit, and God bless <3
 Quoting: Éireann

Merry Christmas Lady.

What hurts the most is I thought I was rescuing him, fixing him. Saving him from the pain and neglect he had been in for years.

For people who don't know he was illegally taken from a shelter in Kansas and ended up in Ohio where someone was breading him and selling the babies. The day he was found on the street at least three others Chi's were found in the same area by the warden. Someone tossed them all out.

So I dropped a couple thousand on him to have his teeth pulled and got him fixed.

Got him out of the pain he had been in...

Then some ass kills him for no reason. Why should he be dead and her abused dogs who have never seen a vet live.

I know life is not fair, but this one leaves a bad taste in my mouth. He had a good ten years left in him.

Re: Well GLP You did it! You helped me win my court case where my neighbor killed my dog with intent.
We won the court case, settled with a plea-bargain we were happy with, so it will not be public record.

Thanks in part to some very good brainstorming, GLP (and some darn good members who took the time to help) came up with a simple solution that the prosecution latch on to. GLP's Idea:We need to make the case about keeping the neighborhood safe for the 12+ children under 7 years old who play on the street and in the city park across from my house, not about my dog who was killed. We were seconds away from dismissal, but the argument was valid and after that it almost went to trial. Judge told the lady if it goes to trial and she lost the case all her dogs would be put down that same day. So she took the plea-bargain.

She got 6 months jail with a suspended sentence. Owes me the 1200+ in vets bills, has to file her two outside dogs as dangerous. Has to carry extra insurance on them. Has to comply with a state mandated secure fence in the next 6 months (not cheap). If she gets caught letting her dogs out again in the next two+ years she will serve that 6 months in jail and they will kill all the dogs. If she does not comply with the court order in the next 6 months she will go to jail.

I’ll do a quick summary for those who don’t remember the whole thing.

My dog got loose, wife was chasing him. The dog has a cat bell on, neighbor heard the cat bell and opened the front door and sicked her dogs on my wife and the 7lb dog. Wife was ok, but the dogs as a pack tore the dog from her arms and ripped him to shreds. The drunk slosh neighbor was laughing the whole time, never tried to stop the dogs. They bit our little guy till he did not move, he was paralyzed and took three days to die. This was not the first time they had attack but I had to make sure it was the very last time. We called the cops knowing we were going to get a ticket for no leash, but had to get the entire thing documented so it was done once and for all.

One last thing that really helped was she lied multiple times in court. Just weird lies, odd stuff. Judge was not amused with the entire thing.

This was the thread where we found the little guy who changed our lives. Thread: I need GLPs help on a “lost dog” in my possession UPDATED pic on page 2

Then this was when the attack happened. When the bitch let her 3 80LB untrained pit/rot mix dogs out without collars/tag/shots thinking she was just killing another cat in the neighborhood when instead it was my wife with her dog. Thread: my face is torn open, my dog might be dead.(he passed at 1:52 EST 7/26/15 in my wifes arms) Thank you ALL for the support.

I remember your initial post, OP. Congratulations on getting justice for your deceased family member pet. You may also want to consider suing her in civil court for monetary damages, with this conviction you'd likely prevail.

Re: Well GLP You did it! You helped me win my court case where my neighbor killed my dog with intent.
Crit , my parents won the case when their neighbors 129 lb rotty came onto their back patio and attacked my dad's little miniature rat terrier, 7 lbs and was dragging her out into the field screaming to kill her, Dad dropped kicked that rottweiler in the head 3 times before Tyson let Chia go but not before ripping her open down different sides of her body and she had to have drainage rubes put in, we prayed all the way to the emergency vet. His neighbor sent me a text saying he probably just thought she was a squirrel because he had killed many and laid them in her drive, they too lied in court,

We refused to keep her at the emergency vet and the judge says " so what your saying is you saved these people over $2500!!...Gulp".
My parents won the case , By the GRACE OF GOD, his little dog lived and died a natural dead after she had over 90 staples and 112 internal stitches plus 3 drainage tubes... A nightmare.

Some people should NEVER be allowed to own a dog.
 Quoting: Just Trina

I used to work at a Vet Clinic and it was horrible what happened to small dogs because of ill trained and aggressive dogs would do to them! It is always the owner of the big dogs that get pups usually from a breeder that tells them they have "bred out" the aggressive tendencies of Dobies, Rots, Pit Bulls and Wolf Hybrids.. yes you read that right. In the day these breeders got big $$$ for these "cute pups". So many ended up in shelters and homes with crazy DOG lovers that they could not handle the huge uptick of those needing help. It is sad that it still happens and I can tell you what we used to tell our bereaved clients..
go purchase a big Wolf Hound or Mastiff or Great Dane or smart gened German Shepard .. sweet dogs that just are too big for those "nasties" to take down. And report to the authorities anyone selling aggressive breeds (or cross breeds) for profit who don't show or compete with them or have them improperly maintained (good fence, kennel, supervision) just thinking on that when you told your story last time.. sorry but that is the truth. Get a bigger dog then they have.. one that can be trained to defend you!

The GLP community celebrate the system they fight against. 6 months in jail for having your dog kill a dog is insane. You hate police but love the justice system and your crazy sentence structure. You are cowards who talk tuff but hide behind police. You dirty americans know nothing about freedom. My god awful country is heading down to your dindo ways.

Glad to hear it man, you did the wise thing and persistence pushed it the last few inches.

Were it me, I'd probably be strolling up and down the walk with a good bat making meow noises, for the sake of the local cats alone. Which isn't entirely fair to the dogs, who are pretty much instinctively compelled to obey the old bitch.

It's so hard for me to read this story...I can't imagine having lived it. I'm glad she was held accountable. As someone stated earlier, alcoholics never get it. They never take responsibility for anything that happens. Hopefully she doesn't decide to escalate things. (And good on you for staying cool--not sure I would have been able to.)

She does not have the money to keep the dogs, I suspect they will be dead before the 6 months to comply are up.

What?

No clue how legal works do you? How do I prove an attack on a cat who crawls off in to the woods to die and we have no body.

All we have as a neighborhood are 8+ missing cats and no proof. This is why she lets them out after dark, well used to let them out anyway.

Mt cat got bit by something and it turned out the cat had cystic kidney decease and even with the vets help it eventually passed from the bite.

But how do I prove who bit my cat?

I loved that cat. I don't let my current cat out on purpose because of it.
