Barnacle-Encrusted Underwater Camera travels over 1000 miles in 16 months
It was a dive camera, covered in barnacles, and appeared to have been at sea for some time. But the digital camera had held up quite well inside a waterproof casing.

"We turned it on. Battery still works, SD (memory) card works, and look at the pictures on it," Clark said — pictures of a family with two children on a diving excursion.

Clark, an engineer, went to work to figure out where it came from.

Not covered in this article but in the newscast stated was that Clark researched the camera by first calling in the serial number but the manufacturer said they didn't keep records that far back or the early 2000s. It was perfectly operational inside it's enclosure.

He then was able to view the photos and determine a location from the name on a dive boat in the Caymans in one of the photos. From that he determined, after contacting the dive company that it had traveled about 1000 miles in 16 months.

There are photos provided from the camera. Maybe someone here will recognize themselves or a friend. There was a dive boat name on the news film story I do not see here though. That would help immensely.

If you have information about the owner of the SeaLife DC1200 camera, contact [email protected].

Maybe the owners can finally have "enclosure".
