Lab-grown black hole behaves just like Stephen Hawking said it would

In 1974, Stephen Hawking theorized that the universe's darkest gravitational behemoths, black holes, were not the pitch-black star swallowers astronomers imagined, but they spontaneously emitted light — a phenomenon now dubbed Hawking radiation.

Researchers at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology did just that. They created a black hole analog out of a few thousand atoms. They were trying to confirm two of Hawking's most important predictions, that Hawking radiation arises from nothing and that it does not change in intensity over time, meaning it's stationary.

"A black hole is supposed to radiate like a black body, which is essentially a warm object that emits a constant infrared radiation," study co-author Jeff Steinhauer, an associate professor of physics at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, said in a statement. "Hawking suggested that black holes are just like regular stars, which radiate a certain type of radiation all the time, constantly. That's what we wanted to confirm in our study, and we did."

Sigh... this thread is like monkeys trying to talk about quantum mechanics.

Hawking Radiation originates from the virtual particle pairs generated right at the event horizon. Usually these pairs are generated all the time and everywhere, but they exist only for the Planck-time before they self-annihilate. They exist for such a short time (and on "borrowed energy") that they don't really exist in a causal way. That's why they are virtual particles.

However, at the event horizon, one of the particles may fall into the black hole, which leaves its pair outside the black hole as a real particle. It may annihilate with a nearby anti-particle or produce radiation as it orbits the black hole at relativistic speed. That is Hawking Radiation.

Hawking Radiation is in the infrared spectrum, because the original gamma/x-rays become red-shifted by the immense gravity of the black hole.

Another thing to respect in regard to simulation theory, is that it may very well act like Inception depending on what level of loop you currently reside.

It's fun to wonder things, then feedback does its thing. Like it do.

Thus..a thousand years is like a day..

MIT Researchers Find That Magnetic Pulses Directed at Brain Change People's Ability to Tell Right from Wrong

A device that emits an invisible beam affecting a person's ability to tell right from wrong might sound like the kind of weapon a comic book villain would use to wreak havoc around the world.

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology say such a device allowed them to observe the effects magnetic rays have on a person's sense of morality.

In a new study, volunteers were subjected to magnetic pulses just above and behind of the right ear, focusing on the area of the brain believed to be the area controlling morality. The pulses were intended to block cell activity that contributed to the volunteers' sense of right and wrong.

MIT's researchers explain the study in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

"You think of morality as being a really high-level behavior," Dr. Liane Young, the study's lead researcher, told the British Broadcasting Corporation. "To be able to apply a magnetic field to a specific brain region and change people's moral judgments is really astonishing."

To see what effect a 500 millisecond magnetic pulse had, researchers gave the 20 volunteers a series of tests. In one test, the volunteers were given an ethical dilemma: should a man let his girlfriend walk across a bridge he knew wasn't safe?

The volunteers based their answers on how the scenario played out. If the girlfriend crossed with bridge safely, the man wasn't at fault. The volunteers based their decision on the outcome of the dilemma, not the moral principle, because of the magnetic pulse, the researchers wrote.

In another test, volunteers were exposed to 25 minutes of weak electric currents that prevent brain cells from functioning normally. They then had to read stories about morally questionable characters and judge whether the characters' actions caused harm. Researchers found that the volunteers accepted morally dubious actions that resulted in a "happy" ending.[/Quote}

All magnets lose their grip as the strength of the field they emit decays.

No matter how aligned an outside force exerted upon matter makes it's electromagnetic arrangement, it eventually returns to its original chaotic state of being.

That makes sense. Once the lock weakens, I can break/move away.

But it takes various times depending on the strength. Avoiding getting too close is key but I don't always have the choice as this thread and others make witness.

There really is a point of no return..like that small amount of time/space when you get the magnet just close enough to the fridge where it is sucked from your hand.

Re: Mad World
Seems it is like activating a specific and concentrated aspect of psyche to have a strength or other abilities in a time of need.

In the case of my dream and switching to Superman, I see Superman as source of great strength of which I put part of myself into it for use at later time. Seems so. Like for an example, the Sandman or Dreamer in comics did put a lot of his powers into a ruby stone as being tool of his own for governing dream realm. Unfortunately, it got stole and used for bad deeds by someone. When the ruby stone broke, all powers returned to Sandman / Dreamer, thus making him more powerful than before.

But though, there could be a very good reason for making a ruby stone (ie Tool of choice) for purpose and limitation reason, but it has risks and consequences nevertheless (eg. got stole and used for evil deeds).

Until one has been in an energy battle, they'll never know what it's like. I know I didn't. Until I did.

I only 'killed' if lines were purposely crossed. With that said..I'm sure the killing floor is strewn with thousands of corpses over the years.

Don't approach the line..and it is not a problem. Approach the line..and it's on.

I don't always win. But I often do....

I should be having breakfast with my mom right now and then be off to sell at an art show all day.

I actually really enjoy doing that show, and it is perfect it falls on Mother's Day, because I get to spend the morning and evening with my parents, after the show.

Hopefully it will be back next year.
