Re: Mad World
I was addicted to TV before I became addicted to the Web. Before I shut off the TV for the last time..it was the first thing I would turn on in the morning..and fall asleep to it at night.

I switched screen addictions, when the Web was getting its legs..and it was a real wonder for the first several years.

It jumped the shark in 2016 and has taken a nosedive in content and civil discourse and has instead become a tool for authoritarian rule.

Which was most likely its intended purpose.

 Quoting: Seer777

Really, really recommend this video. David Foster Wallace called all this. He was also addicted TV.

He killed himself in 2008.

It's not words.

It a system of pressure and waves and vibration.

Like music you can't hear or see.

As a genuine synesthete, you don't need any mushrooms ;-).

Thank you Michel for visualizing so beautifully what we taste-colour synesthetes experience every day! Synesthesia is such a wonderful gift. When I watched the movie for the first time, I had no idea what it was about, so I was not prepared. I was so surprised, amazed and touched, I had to cry at the synesthesia scene when I saw my own experience so perfectly displayed in a cartoon movie

.....

Synesthesia

Synesthesia or synaesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.

People who report a lifelong history of such experiences are known as synesthetes. Awareness of synesthetic perceptions varies from person to person

 Quoting: Seer777

When we were in our 20s my brother told me he had a form of synesthesia.

It would make sense the bursts of light I see with different sounds, could be a form of it as well. Sudden pressure creates the light, just like bioluminescence.

It happened last night just as I was drifting off to sleep. I heard a loud noise and even though I was in the dark and had my eyes closed the sudden sound was translated as a field of purple and red squiggles and meshed together on a lit background.

Only lasted as long as the sound.

Could compared it to that sound/feeling in Metal Gear Solid when he becomes alarmed.

Stumbled on this 2 nights ago. This is exactly what I saw with the sound but it was just purple and red.

Pretty cool feedback.

Re: Mad World
The 70s were a lawless wasteland of home design. I have zero personal memories of the 70s.

My memory starts around 1982. Watching the movie E.T. in the theater, is still very clear.

Released on June 11, 1982, by Universal Pictures, E.T. was an immediate blockbuster, surpassing Star Wars to become the highest-grossing film of all time a record it held for 11 years until Jurassic Park, another Spielberg-directed film, surpassed it. E.T. was widely acclaimed by critics and is considered to be one of the greatest films of all time, and it won four Oscars at the 55th Academy Awards:

Best Original Score, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound and Best Sound Editing.

Only thing of note I recently noticed was glowing spores. I keep spotting them in different shows over the last several days.

Here in the new Dune, Disenchantment season 3, David Attenborough's Life that Glows, and last night in The Good Place.

Also a few images I came across the last 3 days.

Only things that stands out.

Yup. We had golden/yellow shag in our bedrooms. These horrible green/yellow plastic dividers that separated the entry way, from the living room.

We had saloon door between the kitchen and the entry way. I use to tear around with my miniature doll pram, and little orange shopping cart and slam those babies against the telephone desk.

Good times.

COVID baby boom was a bust: Five states report up to 81,000 fewer births since pandemic began and NYU Langone has seen a 33% increase in egg freezing as record number of couples put off having children

Five states, Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii and Ohio, have released preliminary 2020 data for births showing a decline from 2019

In 2019, there were a total of 898,646 births in these states compared to 817,394 babies born in 2020 - meaning there were 81,000 fewer births

The biggest drops in births was seen in California, which saw a 13.7% decrease in births from 2019 to 2020

A recent study found that 31% of women said they wanted to have children later than previously planned due to the 2008 recession

More like utilizing us through a brilliant interconnected network that makes up the entirety of life on the planet.

Using our genius, creativity and problem solving skills, is the quickest/safest way to spread to other planets.

We were all taught in grade school that the Sun would eventually swallow the Earth killing everything.

If fungi can get a toehold on other planets in range..then life can go on elsewhere.

littleprince
 Quoting: Seer777

Basically..the Earth has been through multiple extinction level events. One could suppose that fungi and their form of sentience, would want to catch a ride off planet before the next one.

Using humans with their cleverness, curiosity and concepts, it might actually work.

Fun to think about.
