I see it as the Prince's pure innocence not understanding what 'not tamed' means, in respect to their potential to play together. You're far too literal. Most if not all childrens stories are about the end of childhood. Play is in context. Why can't every character be a shade of the other? How many books ,if not communications, are retrospectives?All of them? How could you write at all, if you didn't have the past to draw from?
