Re: Scott Weiland's passing... TRIBUTE
Stone Temple, Nirvana, Velvet Revolver, Pearl Jam, Guns-n-Roses, Foo Fightes, Green Day etc are what the 90's were all about music wise.

These were the grunge garage bands that bridged my generation (56 years old) with my daughters generation (34 years old) and we're loved by both.

This news isn't surprising but it still represents another legend gone. I hope he died peacefully and is in a happier place.

"Fall To Pieces" is musical diary of his constant struggle and pain. My favorite song.

It was quite an era ... out the blue came Nirvana and washed all the Madonnas off the stage and then came bands like STP. I love the memories and the vibe they all gave. I will never outgrow that vibe.

Were you alive in the 90s? I will always love Interstate Love Song, among others... he was a troubled soul with great talent. I saw STP in New Orleans when I was 17. The acoustic set they did was the best i have ever seen. His voice back in 1997=amazing.

RIP Scott Weiland- my cousin is a lying biatch who claimed she would marry you one day.

Scott Weiland: 20 Essential Songs

When Weiland released Blaster this past March, it signaled his first new, original studio material since the ill-fated STP reunion album half a decade earlier. And with a new band — dubbed the Wildabouts — behind him, the singer sounded positively reenergized. "White Lightning," the album's first single, is powered by a monstrous, Godzilla-glam stomp, over which a raspy-voiced Weiland gets down and dirty rolling out a "hillbilly tale." As he explained to Billboard, "It's a musical homage to the film Lawless ... moonshine, jalopies ... the whole scene."

Sad. But I figured it would have happened long ago. About the time he made the velvet revolver videos and looked like iggy pop.

Certain things, they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone.

I caught you knockin'
at my cellar door
I love you, baby,
can I have some more
Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

I hit the city and
I lost my band
I watched the needle
take another man
Gone, gone, the damage done.

I sing the song
because I love the man
I know that some
of you don't understand
Milk-blood
to keep from running out.

I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's
like a settin' sun.

Yes...regarding Shannon Hoon.
Remember Jimmy Chamberlain from Smashing Pumpkins? He OD'd, but survived.

Hell, he was kicked out of SP like Scott was from STP, but James was able to really clean up.

Axl's cousin, Shannon:

 Quoting: Loewin

Oh I didn't know they were cousins. I saw them in concert on separate occasions. I remember Hoon sang in Don't Cry.

I know Weiland had trouble with heroin in the past, so this doesn't surprise me. It does sadden me, as I grew up listening to his music.
 Quoting: EekTheCat

RIP Scott Weiland, very sad news. I always loved his voice.

hf

I had never heard the rumor Axl and Shannon were cousins so I googled and found this:

Axl Rose and Shannon Hoon were not cousins, that is a rumor. They were friends, introduced back when they both lived in Indiana apparently.

The rumour is lefit.
Just saw on msm.

They say he passed away peacefully in his sleep like he died of old age or something.
I tend to think it's more than old age!

I saw him on an interview during the summer and he didn't look too well.
He wasn't making much sense and I thought he looked drugged up but apparently he had quit drugs. He just looked and sounded messed up.

One of my top five favorites of all time. Lucky to have met him twice and seen him over 20 times between Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver and Solo shows. I'm gonna listen to Adhesive. R.I.P. to one of the greats of my generation.
