Would GLP support a reality show based on creating a public satellite orbiting the moon?
Question for the Masses here

I am in the process of developing a reality show idea that would follow these steps, I am a long time member and follower of GLP and I have changed my overall look at film making and life in general from my experience here on GLP. Some of you are bat shit crazy, some are very enlightened and some are very informed. that being said I think that pairing up in a public venture as to what I am about to describe and being totally transparent would benefit both GLP and the company producing this venture.

So in a nutshell here is what I am developing.

1. Host a contest to develop a new and very efficient way to have a craft escape earths gravity and put a satellite into orbit around the moon. We would document the entire process and award the winner of the newly develop tech $250k dollars.

2. View all possible locations of conspiracy through out the moon, including the dark side, we would outfit the satellite with a high res camera, and in real time spend months researching all possible conspiracy sites.

3. Identify a landing location to setup for a future mission to a specific location on the moon, one being highly rich in Helium 3

4. Launch another campaign to identify the first contestants to go to the moon for a 6 month duration

5. develop cheap tech to setup a small colony on the moon and mine Helium 3 for return to earth.

All this sounds extremely ambitious but I believe all of this can be done, and would be an amazing reality series over several years. I am working with an Oscar winning producer on this, and we both feel to keep this open and transparent we need to work with the public on this and in my opinion the community of GLP

feel free to comment on this, I would love any and all feedback. This is a serious post and is in the process of being developed

Cheers

forgot to add, if any mod wants to verify my credentials I would gladly provide them those details

Do you have any ideas about the types of propulsion system?

There is already a contest for the first sugar rocket to enter low earth orbit.

I believe that electrostatic propulsion will be the answer. The craft will need to be very lightweight. During certain times of the year the ionosphere dips down to an altitude where a balloon will reach. New type of ion propulsion could work like an airborne seed.

Amsat has plans for a mission to Mars.

Amateurs recently tested a solar sail. The solar sail appeared to function as planned.

There are many open source Cubesats out there for others to use. The latest craze is the Thumbsat.

One idea is to create thousands of micro satellites that use the solar winds. They will link together and form a wireless mesh to relay data back to earth.

I think you should focus on sending a satellite. Sending humans will require tons of money even if someone develops a new type of propulsion system. Just think about how much equipment is needed to keep someone alive in space.

A robotic mission to the Moon is certainly possible.

that is very interesting, and I will look into that type of method, I'm sure there are hundreds of ideas out there that don't have the ability or forum to test and develop the tech

Jeff Probst is probably already planning Survivor Moon.

This is GLP. Most people here don't even believe satellites exist anymore, so why would they support funding something they think is a hoax to begin with?
