Generally most things are a product of your own decision making. God has a plan for your life, but you can deviate from it with your own actions. Unless his plan for you is something, like Jonah being a prophet, he couldn't run away from God's plan.

That is true however in this instance there is no religion involved at all. It has to do with self inquiry and was meant to provide an answer to the original question provided by a very wise man. I hope this helps.
