Story time!


So the reason we put a candle inside the JACK O LANTERN is that in the those evviiilll pagan times they actually thought putting an image of your self (Not originally a pumpkin though, believed to be some sort of squash however) - that it would keep the evil spirits away.

True "Halloween" is much like easter - Easter, for Christians, is the first Sunday after the Spring Equinox's first full moon. That is why every year it changes give or take a few weeks.

Yet we - as a society- made Oct. 31st an official Holiday, yet not legally - Nobody gets that day off.

So lighting of this JACK O LANTERN

(Fun to "rip it open" and "take out its "seedy" guts)

and carve an image into it - and place a candle on this night - after the first full moon after the Fall Equinox (It has to be, since it's the 31st)

Just saying it a tradition that we brought to America many years ago when we couldn't find a turnip to carve , the pumpkin became the next best thing,

Just giving you a history lesson nothing to do with Potato,s , where ever you came up potato carvings, Jesus learn some history, we. Have traditions that are ours in the states you know,,,

Snip; As the tale goes, a man called Stingy Jack invited the devil for a drink and convinced him to shape-shift into a coin to pay with. When the devil obliged, Jack decided he wanted the coin for other purposes, and kept it in his pocket beside a small, silver cross to prevent it from turning back into the devil.

Jack eventually freed the devil under the condition that he wouldn’t bother Jack for one year, and wouldn’t claim Jack’s soul once he died. The next year, Jack tricked the devil once more by convincing him to climb up a tree to fetch a piece of fruit. When he was up in the tree, Jack carved a cross into the trunk so the devil couldn’t come down until he swore he wouldn’t bother Stingy Jack for another ten years.

When Jack died, God wouldn’t allow him into heaven and the devil wouldn’t allow him into hell. He was instead sent into the eternal night, with a burning coal inside a carved-out turnip to light his way. He’s been roaming the earth ever since. The Irish began to refer to this spooky figure as “Jack of the Lantern,” which then became “Jack O’Lantern.”

Might have given me a idea for my second pumpkin...maybe...

I just realized where I recognized that turnip from.

Now I know why the first lady sung a song about it also.

Well, that was as disturbing as it was good moving.

That's good stuff.

Back in the day I dresses as the Grim reaper one year and stood like a statue scaring kids, did not move when grandma approached...

We used to get 300 kids at that house.

Then one dad saw me, points from twenty feet away. 5 year old comes running in to kick me in the nuts at null blast. I still have the outfit, I just wont wear it like that again.
