Why are women(people) becoming more and more emotionally dependent on technology? | |

However, from a eligible bachelor, this is what I see now a days... Who would have ever thought that the pursuit of happiness could be derailed by something as stupid and unnecessary as not owning a fucking cell phone. I am finding women are becoming too dependent on cell phone/social media, so dangerously so...that they (probably men as well) need a reality check! Respectfully. Whenever I meet someone new, she'd learn the following; good job;no kids;clean blood;mechanically inclined; not balding;physically fit;no x-wife;x-military;own vehicle;own place;educated;traveled; emotionally available; but.... When we exchange numbers and she finds out that its a LAN line and not a cell, the whole energy changes, its a big deal now a days apparently. "An unemployed man with a cell phone is a better mate than an employed man without one." Dreamer, I do not do cell phones in my personal life. If this makes me ineligible to say vows to you, then so be it. No, I get it! I understand I'm the one not thinking clearly here. With no cell phone stuck to my head, and no 20 hours of television a week multiplied over the past 20 years...surely this has probably completely rattled my brain. Not fit for human reproduction!!! But on the other hand.. if you've had somethign, experienced it, enjoyed it, and know you can get it.. then you could become dependent on having it.. So to sum it up.. people get hooked on shit if it exists and they've tried it and enjoy using it. Takes willpower to overcome needing something that isn't really necessary but is really enjoyable. |

Constantly checking to see how many likes and literally having a melt down if no one likes your newest selfie. I DO have a Facebook. I have MAYBE 70 friends, all of which are family or people I talk to daily. Some days(weeks) I never even open Facebook. I do have a cellphone, however I use it for calls and text and often forget to charge it. I do love my smartphone, and am glad they exist, because of the following reasons: Google maps and on the fly navigation with satellite view Geocaching programs and built in GPS Torque app for pulling codes and diagnosing car issues Always on internet for checking stock quotes, making trades, and surfing GLP. Having a phone actually gets me out of the house more and lets me find places on the fly I would not have found in the past. I hardly ever use facebook though. Some of my relatives do live on it and post all their little memes 20 times a day. I'll just buy the stock and hold it.. I expect an easy triple out of it given human nature... people will remain facebook junkies. |

I didn't take this as a woman bashing thread, just stating the seemingly obvious... I don't have a problem with guys who have landlines- when you say 'the energy changes', just speaking personally, I'm awkward as hell. I'm the girl who calls, and leaves the 5 minute long babbling message filled with 'ums'. I like the idea of being able to read what I wrote before it's sent. But you're dating some uber shallow women if they judge you not on your owning your own home, car, job, etc. but because you choose to not own a cell phone. I have a cell, but I'm also in that group who still believes that just because I have a cell doesn't mean I need to be available 24/7. If I'm on a date, it goes away. With friends? Goes away. I'm in the other room doing something and my phone rings? Sorry, I'm not sprinting to get it. |
