Some seasonal. Anything from working for the mall directly (security, housekeeping, main office), food service, jewelry stores, clothing, electronic/cellphone, bookstores. Quoting: Batmann131313 Basically any job in a mall you can think is represented here. First time job to management. And yeah working in a mall sucks. Whatever, it's all seasonal work for the holidays coming. We aren't that stupid. Come on now. I'm not looking for seasonal. I need 2 full-time and 3 part time before I can even think about seasonal people. what state are you in Op? Minnesota. |

Maybe people are waking up to the fact that all they are are wage slaves for the corporation and have had enough. I do NOT want to "work". I DO want to contribute though. I want my efforts to be rewarded so that I can better myself as a person, and in turn enrich my community and my society as a whole. What I'm pretty sick of doing is slaving away day after day just to get by, all the while the corporate masters reap immoral amounts of wealth off my efforts and all I get is more "work". The system is broken. Time to water the tree of liberty. |

Because the employers act like they own you and will take advantage of you and then sit there and wonder why people wont work, American employers are slave drivers. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70514372 I have an issue with these types of employers, which is most of them unfortunately. When you agree to work for someone it should be a mutually respectful business arrangement between two people, not a whip cracker and a slave. Employers have a tendency to act like they are the only ones with anything to offer, ignoring the fact that they need the work done. It should be an exchange and both should benefit from it. They act like they're doing you a massive favour and you should bow and scrape for some minimum wage bullshit job. I wont work for those types. Luckily decent employers do still exist, you just have to hunt to find them. When you get a good one you go the extra mile for them, and they for you because you both appreciate your working relationship. |

Luckily decent employers do still exist, you just have to hunt to find them. When you get a good one you go the extra mile for them, and they for you because you both appreciate your working relationship. That's the difference between a job and a career. You have to have something that earns you respect like a skill etc. When you are unskilled, then your paycheck is your respect. Anyone can do the job so you have no power. Believe it or not. Dealing with Bullshit is a skill. Having worked these "jobs" when I was younger is what got me to better positions today, and also taught me that I didn't want to be in them forever. That's why Mall jobs are great from teenagers and young people. It teaches them that lesson. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70401818 United States 10/10/2015 04:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Is it seasonal work?...because honestly working for 3 months or so isn't worth it. Also, most people fill out applications online. Most job fairs have low attendance because now most job applications are processed through the workplaces website. Source, worked in HR and our employer rarely does job fairs anymore because the trend of people not showing up happened a few years ago....but we do get tons of applicants through our online site. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 56797459 Sweden 10/10/2015 04:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the sad thing is. at my part time work, there are 60 year olds there that have been doing the same stuff for 30-40 years and cant help to feel sad for them, while at the same time looking at my own future. the even more sad part was when one of the administrators was talking about how we all should be proud of our work and all that. if you just want to make a living and not think about it anymore it might be fine. but if you rly want to make a difference that shit is extremely depressing going up at 4am, starting work at 5 every day, and being to tired to work for a better future. also takes about 5 years to get a full time job at this place |
