Re: Just ONE Thing For My Birthday...Please??
To all the good GLP'ers near and far around the world....could you do just one thing for me for my 62nd birthday?!!??

Do or say one good thing to someone on this day. It could just be a smile, a touch of a hand, tell a joke and make someone smile, comfort a loved one who's sad, give your dog an extra treat, be a little more patient with someone you disagree with, buy a cup of coffee for someone down on their luck,...doesn't matter how insignificant you may think your gesture is...just do or say something that makes another feel better for a moment.
If even just five or ten people do this, this will be the best birthday I've ever had because it will mean, to me, that there is still some goodness out there.
Thank you for listening, folks. Warm wishes to all.

He didn't have a mommy that loved him and that's why he's so upset. You would be to OP if you came from his country and had his mommy.

Re: Just ONE Thing For My Birthday...Please??
To those who think this too cloying sappy sweet...maybe it is...but what's the alternative? Another day of senseless killings, frustration with governments, people that didn't need to die, anger that could have been averted if only people could just try to accept differences in others whether they be gay or straight, black or white, Christian or Moslem??!
Where does it get us to NOT pass around one second of goodwill?
That's all I'm saying and it doesn't make me anything other than just another homosapien living on a crumbling world with discouragement around almost every corner.
I'd rather focus on the smallest scrap of hope in the humanity of whoever is willing to still care. It costs nothing and maybe somewhere down the road, someone smiled.

Thank you. While I appreciate the birthday wishes, actually it would be incredible if you gave a pet an extra stroke on the head or smiled at a someone else...friend or stranger (unless he's packing a semi-automatic)
Still, I admit, my fellow GLP'ers have made my day. Thank you!!

Exactly!! And it's really hard to do that when you just open a newspaper and find out that yet another suicide bomber has taken out a couple of city blocks while the leader of their country shouts "Death" to whoever they don't agree with. I guess that's why a random act of kindness could go a long way. Maybe folks will catch on, maybe not... but its better than any other option.
