Just a few reports from the above link:

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of southeast South Carolina... including the
following Allendale... Beaufort... Charleston... coastal ...
Colleton... coastal Jasper... Dorchester... Hampton... inland
Berkeley... inland Colleton... inland Jasper and tidal Berkeley.

* Through Sunday afternoon

* widespread heavy rain is expected to affect much of southeast
South Carolina into Sunday afternoon as tropical moisture
interacts with a strong upper level low pressure system and
stalled front offshore. Rain amounts of 8 to 12 inches are
likely through the period with locally higher amounts
possible. Such heavy rainfall will likely produce life-
threatening flash flooding across southeast South Carolina. In
low-lying coastal areas... including downtown Charleston... the
risk for dangerous flash flooding will be especially high
around times of high tide.

* Life-threatening flash flooding is possible. During the times
of heaviest rainfall... Road closures could become common and
motor vehicle travel could become impossible. Where the
heaviest rain falls... standing water could remain and impede
or prevent travel for extended periods of time. In some
areas... water could enter structures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be prepared to protect life and property... especially in areas
prone to flooding. If flooding develops... move to higher ground
immediately. You are urged to avoid driving during the periods of
heaviest rain. If driving... be prepared for flooded roadways and
Road closures.

940 PM EDT Fri Oct 2 2015

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a

* Flood Advisory for minor flooding for poor drainage areas for...
Berkeley County in southeastern South Carolina...
Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina...

* until 1145 PM EDT

* at 938 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding. Overflowing poor
drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Charleston... Mount Pleasant... Goose Creek... Moncks Corner...
McClellanville... Naval Weapons Station Charleston... Isle of Palms
and sullivan's island.

An additional 2 to 3 inches of rain is expected over the advisory
area by midnight. Minor flooding of low lying and poor drainage
areas is likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This heavy rainfall will result in significant ponding of water on
area roads and in low spots. Slow down to reduce the risk of
hydroplaning. If water covers the entire roadway or is flowing... find
another Route. The water is probably much deeper than it appears and
only one foot of water can stall a vehicle. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Torrential rain will continue into the overnight hours... and flash
flood warnings will eventually be required.

902 PM EDT Fri Oct 2 2015

... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 2 am EDT Saturday...
... High rip current risk remains in effect through Saturday
evening...

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory... which is in effect until 2 am EDT Saturday.

* Location... low-lying coastal areas of Charleston County...
including downtown Charleston.

* Timing... the risk for coastal flooding will be highest a few
hours either side of high tide. High tide will occur in the
Charleston Harbor between 1230 am and 100 am EDT.

* Tide levels... peaking 7.0 to 7.2 feet mean lower low water in
the Charleston Harbor.

* Impacts... inundation of saltwater in and near low-lying coastal
areas could lead to some Road closures and flooding of
properties. The risk of heavy rainfall in conjunction with
the high tide overnight could lead to more serious flooding.

* Rip currents... wind and wave conditions support the
development of very strong rip currents. These rip currents
will be life threatening to anyone who enters the surf.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

No one should enter the surf due to life threatening rip
currents.

Be prepared for the possibility of Road closures and minor
flooding of properties. If travel is necessary... do not attempt
to drive through water of unknown depth.

From what little I know, a rainfall of such magnitude has to have a system "parked" over a landmass to dump that much rain. Joaquin is a moving system, so I personally doubt that will happen even though Carolinas might get inland flooding from the coast.

Jeez with all the flood advisories! I live in lake Norman and they have had those warnings for 24 hours and nothing has happened. Why is everyone a bunch of pussies afraid of rain when most of the docks on the lake don't even touch water? Man up and stop being a drama queen! It's not Noah's flood occuring.

The news and far too many people are acting like Yankees who peed their pants over Sandy. We've been handling hurricanes for centuries. But this is just a little bit of rain. Now it seems their forecast has the hurricane staying off the coast. Everyone man up. Ignore the news, whose sole purpose is to scare you. Ignore the governors and their states if emergency they declare to make people think they are being looked after. There might be some local flooding and downed trees but it is not like Hugo, Fran or Floyd.

Landrum, SC here... foothills, 5 minutes to NC line.

We have been having rain for a week, since last friday. I'm so sick of seeing rain... I just hope my root cellar will be alright.
Other than that, my little yorkie is pissed cuz she can't go out as much. The hubby is pissed cuz this will be the second week the dirt track races are cancelled. LOL
and as for me, I'm content sitting here watching Andy Griffith...just hope my power doesn't go off again. It went out last saturday due to our storms.
Be safe on the roads in this rain...

I'm in south, west, central NC. We're on a hill of sorts but we have a walkout so we're a little concerned and prepared for 10" of rain as best we could. We did tar the driveway at the house so no water runs downstairs.

I think a carolina rolling update thread should be posted for this weekend. Part of my 3 acres and part of the property behind me is flood zone. Going to be interesting.

It's been misty and soppy today. Heavy bands not close yet but it's very windy.

Yes south and west of central NC. Cut NC in half, I'm in the bottom corner sort of.

No power since 8:30 am. Not raining currently but threatening too.

So, maybe the Charlotte area generally speaking?

Well, it seems to have calmed down a lot here.

Anyone else have a report?

Wow! That's what I've been afraid of here, but so far just some limbs down.

Any rock/mudslides up there yet?

Jeeze! So far none of my trees have fallen!

Is that a chestnut tree? Mine has been droppin nuts like crazy.. we have a friendly black bear who helps out around the yard by eating them.

Im in Asheville too.. its not that bad right now.

About to take the dog out to check water level at Swannanoa river.

Biltmore Village has flood warning for tonight
Have you noticed that we always kill off the good guys and let the demons run amok?
But don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride.

Follow God.
