Quoting: TriggerFish I live in Texas and work in IT as well. All that you have said makes one very nervous. Anyway we can warn the parents to get their kids out of there? If you are reluctant, give us county and zip code? If I thought anyone was in imminent danger I would, for all I know this is nothing which is why i posted asking if anyone else in the area has the same thing going on. Ask your kids if they had a training video they had to watch today and you'll know if it's a school near you. This school services a small number of neighborhoods. Well i will say who it's not. This is not in AISD, LISD, or any major school district, it's one of the smaller consolidated ISD's in the greater Austin Area. Screw you, I'm from Texas. |

Quoting: lightchild_uk From my experience it is the blind leading the blind. The principle probably knows as much as you and is doing as he is told. Perhaps if you go on any other school visits it maybe worth parking outside the school grounds so you can make a quick easy escape. Wherever you park always make sure you car is parked pointing in the direction of your escape route. You don't want to be reversing or turning around in a emergency. Be wary of extra police patrols around or waiting ambulances. Worth checking on arrival if the school car park or surrounding area suddenly having lots of extra parked cars around. Do you have any friends in any of the emergency services that you could chat with? Nothing like this was going on, the school sits in a field and I have seen them do bomb training before it's pretty hard to hide in the are as its just flat and open so if anyone was within a few minutes drive you would be able to tell. Like I said, I highly highly doubt anything that would cause harm to someone is going on today, Is ee no evidence of that, what I do see is a few odd events that have taken place over the last few months at this school and when I arrived at the school they were on the loud speakers explaining what was going to happen and making a big deal about tracking for compliance but I was told NOT to send the info anywhere which is what got me suspicious. Screw you, I'm from Texas. |

They've been doing these videos for 10 years now. Nothing new... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29701848 Can you ask them if the videos specifically address how to talk to media and parents? I have been with this district for awhile now (4 years) and I graduated from this school district in 2002 and as far as I know they have never shown these videos before. Screw you, I'm from Texas. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70278913 United States 09/30/2015 01:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fire drills are required each calendar month school is in session. Lockdown drills and evacuation drills must be completed at least once a year. My school does one each semester. Inclement weather should be at least once a semester. However, I believe the state requires only once a year. Some schools do the required training in video format. It is allowed. However, each drill must be completed in person and documented. Since it is recognized that schools are easy targets, these drills and training are taken seriously. |

Why don't you report it to the local authority you send the usual information to? These things always send a shiver down my spine, because they could just do a lockdown, abduct all the children and the parents wokld never know. Theu even preven parents from contacting their kids or going near the schools, which could mean they might never see their loved ones again |
