The problem is, the photo is three years old, and has precious little to do with the refugee crisis. In fact, it seems to be from a confrontation between members of the far-right Pro NRW party and muslim counter-protesters, which took place in Bonn, back in 2012. A number of news outlets tried to highlight the hoax, including Vice, the Independent and the Mirror, as did numerous Twitter users.

This tool allows you to either upload, or enter the URL of a suspicious image and will then highlight areas where disparities in quality suggest alterations may have been made.

you can also see if a 'new' pic has 'actually' been floating round for awhile by:

Right click on an image and select 'copy image location'.

Then, go to google and click on 'images' in the top right corner to go to image search.

click on the camera icon in the search bar to search by image URL...then paste (ctrl-v) into the search box.

This will bring up all copies of that same picture in all available sizes..clicking on any of them will take you to where it was posted.

Not an online tool, but FlightCheck is also useful to check complex image or layout files:

also...There ARE a couple of image hosting sites that this way of image search won't work...google won't recognize the link or the site is protected from that type of image search or some annoying shit like that.

If that happens, simply right click and 'save' the picture to your computer....then when you click on the little camera icon at google images, select 'upload an image' and browse your files for the pic you just saved and it will upload it and complete the search that way.
