Please Help! I have a question about Vivid Lucid dreams and could use some advice.
I've always had very long detailed dreams since I was a kid. They come in waves and then go away for years. A lot of my dreams are like stories with main characters, and story lines. Most of them are fairly realistic in that it's just regular stories not like I'm a ninja living in a unicorn world or something.

Recently for the first time ever I had 3 sleep paralysis events that were a few weeks apart. The first one was very insane with creatures in my room and my body being pushed into the bed with an extreme vibration. The next two weren't so bad. I never opened my eyes but I could hear things like babies crying which was spooky as hell.

After those events about a few months later I would get this feeling like I was coming out of my body and there was this loud noise in my ears and the same extreme vibrations that I felt during the sleep paralysis but it was mostly in my head between my eyes instead of my body. It only last for less than a minute then it's gone.

So now last night comes and wow, I thought I've had lucid dreams before but I was wrong. I know this because last night I had what I believe is a real legit Vivid Lucid Dream. I think I was slipping into sleep paralysis again but instead I just snapped into a vivid lucid dream. I was well aware I was in bed but i could see with my eyes I was in what I can only describe as a 3d environment, it was insane. It was so real!

If any of you have ever used something like an occulus rift I would say it was like that like a VR experience but everything looked 100% real. I knew I was dreaming so I instantly started doing things I wanted to test out, I was able to jump super high, hover and fly. This all seemed to last for a few minutes then my alarm went off and snapped me out of it.

My question is why is this happening now, how can I make it happen again? Also could this be caused by stress and or Melatonin? I've been under a ton of stress lately and taking melatonin to help me sleep.

I have some of these lucid dreams occasionally - I thought they were dreams at first - some of them I believe still are. But some are so real, I have thought about them a lot and have come to some theories, probably wrong - but I said they were theories

1) In some I believe during these "lucid dreams" - I'm remembering past lives. Used to think this, now I think this is incorrect

2) More recently, I began to believe I'm crossing into an alternate reality, seeing time present in that alternate reality, seeing past incarnations in an alternate reality - this is the closest to the truth I think. Thing is, some of these places I've been to multiple times - some are beyond horrific

3) I'm connecting with other souls and seeing the world they live in through their eyes, soul, mind and heart - this is my most recent theory - this could be true. If so, well it's no comfort but makes some sense

4) These places are warnings to me about where I may end up if I continue as is - this is the scariest but not sure about this one as the experiences have all been about real experiences in alternate worlds. Once I was noticed, someone there saw me - but of course right after I woke up

Some of the experiences have been interesting, perhaps even enjoyable to my hedonistic ways. But most have been been either apocalyptic, or downright mindblowing in a most sombre way - others have been hell, pure and simple - and some have made me think in an enlightening sort of way

What I will say is of one thing I'm positive, this world we live in is very illusory and just another realm within many - and we unknowingly slip into these in dreams and in real life often - so for example, I don't believe I'm in the same realm or timeline I was in pre-2007 to 2008. Don't ask me to explain. It would take too long - but it explains why I feel very disconnected to so many, including friends/family - anyway, that's all I have to say. Hope you find the answers you're looking for. I'm still searching

You may be astral traveling. Those are all signs of it.

One time I remember getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, not knowing that I was out of my body. I went into the bathroom and tried to turn on the light. But nothing would happen when I flicked the switch. I thought the power was out at first, but then I couldn't turn the water on either. I started to believe that I was in another dimension because I was more like a ghost that couldn't physically affect anything. It was the freakiest thing. Finally I went back to bed and passed out. When I woke in the morning, everything was normal again. Weird shit.

I'm not religious so me yelling out Jesus would be pretty lame and disingenuous. Thanks for the advice though.

Not in Belgium either, I hoped a change of ISP to Plusnet would sort it out, seems not.

Why did you go back to bed instead of exploring it? Do you think you had control or did it just seem like you had control?

1) This sounds more like abductions. Most sleep paralysis causes that.

Stop them with these methods:

2) Look at the reviews on Amazon for "Niacin the true story". Niacin is very important for mental problems, sleep, stress, hundreds of chemical reactions in the body.

I actually don't want to stop it. I found it to be an awesome experience once I was aware of what was happening. Thanks for the info however.

Re: Please Help! I have a question about Vivid Lucid dreams and could use some advice.
A person enters into sleep paralysis every time they enter the REM state. It is a defense mechanism to prevent a person from harming themselves while the body does the necessary regeneration during REM sleep.

Entering the lucid state on someone who is accomplished in the theory will tell you, it occurs in those few moments between entering REM and right before you are there.

You essentially get stuck in the REM state while still being fully aware of what's going on.

As to what is causing this, most likely it is as simple as you are now more aware of it happening. Which means you are using it more often.

This type of stuff is like a muscle you have to work it out to be able to control it.
