Global Warming Climate Change!! Emergency!!! Crisis! Climate Change Crisis!!! We MUST DO Something!!!

It's ironic that CO2 is made out to be one of the chief culprits of "global warming" or "climate change" yet every single living organism on this planet is Carbon based. Our cellular respiration mechanisms prioritise CO2 over even O2.

During the pre-Cambrian period we had the greatest proliferation of life ever on planet Earth. Atmospheric CO2 was 16 times higher than it currently is and yet the temperatures were relatively identical to temperatures today.

On top of this NASA's recent studies showed CO2 to be one of the primary components in our atmosphere in maintaining life sustaining temperatures. It was shown that CO2 in the upper atmosphere helps reflect and radiate heat generated from the Sun into outer-space and CO2 in the lower atmosphere helps regulate temperatures.

A "War On CO2" is a war on life. As stated previously, we are Carbon based lifeforms. CO2 is one of our most important components in sustaining and proliferating life on this planet.

But it's OK, a carbon tax should fix all of our problems ...

Either way, there is nothing you can do at this point.

Mother nature is going to be just fine so I am not worried.

It is the ego which makes you worry and it is about self preservation.

Everything will be fine and life will go on.

There have been cataclysmic events throughout the earths history and look here we are now.

You are preaching to the choir, lady. Most of these guys are paid by one side or the other. As a scientist, they screw up my reputation by not behaving like scientists. There are a lot of data out there, and you can draw all kinds of conclusions. For instance, this is the first full year that global CO2 concentrations will remain above 400ppm all year since the dinosaurs, practically. Does that mean it is due to us, not really. It is an effect. The cause remains to be proven. There are suspects because we know where CO2 comes from, I will say. But, like I said earlier, even if it was us and we stopped burning all hydrocarbons tomorrow, a chain of events have been set in motion that cannot be stopped... So it doesn't matter.

Government, industry, and the public's response to climate change has been largely based on political agendas. There are many scientists who are driven more by political agenda's than by science.

However, the changing climate itself has no political agenda. There are MANY scientists studying climate change with NO political agenda.

The majority of people are not competent to determine whether any particular piece of climate research is driven by a political agenda, religious/scientific dogma, or whether it's good science.

This doesn't stop many people from forming opinions about the issue, largely based on their own political agendas, or religious/scientific belief systems. It doesn't stop them from listening to pundits who comment on the climate change debate who are also largely driven by agenda or dogma.

Liberals have been using the climate change debate to promote their agenda's just as conservatives have. Just as their are corporations wishing to protect their revenue stream by resisting regulations, there are corporations wishing to create new revenue streams through regulation.

None of that alters the fact that there are scientists and researchers doing their best to rigorously study the issue, who AREN'T agenda driven, who AREN'T religiously/scientifically dogmatic.

So, Fire Watch, how does one determine which camp a particular person or study belongs to, political/dogmatic or honest/scientific?

What do you mean?! I *AM* doing something about it! I have been doing something about it for a few years now! I have bought the absolute most gas and diesel guzzling full size SUVs and trucks I could afford. I also make sure to cook only on a coal bbq grill every night. Instead of burying the piles of leaves i light them on fire. I make sure to take my personal jet everywhere i go, carrying only me aboard. Oh and i get energy from a high output diesel generator 25/7.
