If you own Gold (bars, coins, etc.) and you have someone “storing” it for you - ie: you do not have physical possession of your metal - then you could be in this position at any time. These men got away with what? 20,000,000 or more? That money went somewhere! And you can bet that the courts will not find it, nor will their creditors get the ill gotten gains. With top notch defense lawyers they may be able to avoid a conviction for ten years! And then leave the US for a country with no extradition if they should see a conviction coming. Money - that kind of money - makes a lot of things possible for them that would not be possible for someone without that kind of cash!

From reading the link, it looks like if Bullion Direct just paid the IRS a cut of the scam (ie: paid their taxes)
that this ponzi scheme could have gone on indefinitely with impunity.

Fact is, the IRS started the ball rolling because they hadn't been paid since 2012.
