Watch hilarious moment 'Fred Astaire' seagull taps its feet as it 'dances' for man's chips.

Hilarious seagulls dance for some chips
The bird appears to tap its feet on command every time the man shouts "dance" - and gets thrown a fried treat for its efforts
When it comes to tap dancing, this seagull is the Fred Astaire of his flock.

In this rib-tickling video, a man appears to coach the bird to dance for chips.

The bird is seen tapping its feet, apparently on command.

And it's rewarded each time with a fried treat.

Displaying a rhythmic foot-tapping routine which causes a satisfying “patter-patter” sound on the ground, the gull shows off his skills while another bird watches.
Every time the man shouts “dance”, the seagull taps its feet and gets thrown a chip in recognition of its efforts.

However, there's a more likely explanation, reports Wales Online.

Birds, and particularly seagulls, carry out the feet-tapping dance in an attempt to imitate the fall of raindrops on the ground.
When they are standing on soil, the moves bring worms to the surface – before they are snaffled by their winged predators.

Although the bird in this video is unlikely to be successful in its bid to get worms to burrow through the car park, it can see the goodies in the filmmaker's hands.

The video was shot in New Quay on the Ceredigion coast, Wales. It has been viewed almost 500,000 times on Youtube.
