Will we ever have a tolerant and accepting society?

We have a black President a gay Pope and a female Olympic Decathlon champion.

Is that really progress though? I feel like those things are all fairly superficial, nothing more than labels really.

There is a belief out there that science will tell you is a valid interpretation of the data. All the data we have collected about our universe can be rendered into visual alternatives that are quite different from our standard.

Can we ever be accepting of the people who choose the other model?

Will flat earth-ers ever be accepted in our society? Until they are we've made no progress at all.
