God says work till you die. So does Jacob Rothschild.
 Quoting: strgzr

There is no central controlling authority in Christianity. What one is talking about in this article is one man's opinion about the bible, not anything which speaks for all Christians.

That should be obvious even to someone with a 10th grade education.

I worked for a city, where most retired in their fifties.
And usually died six months to a few years later

Re: Tea Party historian says Bible commands humans to work until death: ‘God did not design us for retirement’
So should we elect a candidate that eliminates retirement/social security and leaves the useless, unproductive elderly to die in the streets because they're not doing gawd's bidding?

Should we pull a Brave New World and just start killing people at 50 when they start to go downhill and become useless?

Because gawd is all about keeping the production/labor rates up??
 Quoting: Em18966

That's because of the entitled mindset these people hold after being born into wealth.

They think everyone else is scum who needs to be slave labor for life to amount to anything. Then forgotten when they're dead and gone.

At least slaves could have a roof over their head and food on the table for a day's work. That's not the case for the majority of jobs in this country today.

"gawd" "jebus" "not an Atheist"

Pick one.

Teller of tru..... ooops I mean EM, have you ever tried speaking to Jesus? If you gave him a chance, perhaps....just perhaps.... you would find what it is you are looking for....
 Quoting: Insane in the brian

I am not schizophrenic - I don't speak to imaginary beings.

Just because I don't believe in YOUR religion doesn't mean I'm an atheist.

There are plenty of spiritual paths one can take that have absolutely nothing to do with organized religion, let alone YOUR flavor of organized religion.
 Quoting: Em18966

Soo...you don't believe in imaginary beings, yet you are not an atheist. Does this mean that your God(s) are in the room with you right now?

You are a very strange person...I have a feeling that you are a Luciferian or a Deist that's pretty pissed off at the desert Gods...perhaps you used to be a Christian...

By the way you spell 'Gwad'...I'm leaning towards you being a Satanist.

Is that what you want?

If you voted for Obama and agree with Obamacare then you already signed up for that kind of thing happening.

Ezekiel J. Emanuel (Obama's homeboy and one of the main pimps for Obamacare) said exactly what you did above.... "We are growing old, and our older years are not of high quality."

He believes the elderly should be put down at 75.

So did you vote for Obama?
 Quoting: Nameless 8533752

No, I did not.
 Quoting: Em18966

No, you did not what?

Vote for Obama?
or
Know about what the one of the authors of Obamacare really thinks about the elderly.

Something tells me that you work for a certain group out of Canada...your posts are very familiar. I'm pretty damn positive that I have encountered you before in another forum arguing the same 'end religion' and 'pro-gay' stuff.

Re: Tea Party historian says Bible commands humans to work until death: ‘God did not design us for retirement’
More glorification in slavery/servitude.

Where's that free will we've heard so much about?

Oh yeah, it's a lie - kind of like the US lie that we're free...

"another conservative has pushed the idea that retirement went against biblical teachings.

David Barton, a Tea Party activist and Oral Roberts University-educated history author who promotes the idea that the United States was founded by evangelical Christians, told a religious right broadcaster that God opposed retirement, reported Right Wing Watch.

“Retirement is not a biblical concept,” Barton said during an appearance Monday on Kenneth Copeland’s “Believer’s Voice of Victory” television program.

“That is a pagan concept that comes from the Babylonian system,” Barton continued. “If you want to live in Egypt, you want to live in Babylon, great — retire. (For) God’s people that is not a model.”

Barton – lauded by Glenn Beck and GOP lawmakers such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and former Rep. Michele Bachman (R-MN) – echoed similar claims about the Bible and retirement made by right-wing Rabbi Daniel Lapin, Pastor Rick Warren, and Greg Gianforte — a Koch-backed likely candidate for Montana governor."

I guess they forgot about....

Numbers 8:23-26
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “This applies to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall come to do duty in the service of the tent of meeting. And from the age of fifty years they shall withdraw from the duty of the service and serve no more. They minister to their brothers in the tent of meeting by keeping guard, but they shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites in assigning their duties.”

or....

Luke 1:23
And when his time of service was ended, he went to his home.

or....

Ecclesiastes 3:1-10
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; ...

and what these teabaggers fail to understand or practice is...

1 Timothy 5:17-18
Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer deserves his wages.”

If there was no free will, YOU would not exist, we would all have the same opinion. So I guess what you're really saying is...

You are a lie.

Absolutely True, see my story on page 2! We all think we are going to retire and nothing will happen. Most of these guys get about six months.

If I’m going to die 6 months after I retire I should have retired years ago.

During the early Roman Empire average age at death was about 34 years in 100BC and about 37 in AD300. Because people died early they worked until they died. Presently the average age of death is more than twice the age. He's interpreting the scriptures incorrectly IMO.
