I met a man a couple of days ago who had a desk job and at 48 had developed nearly crippling arthritis in his hands. He retired and started a bakery, something he knew very little about. He's been moderately successful, enjoys life as his own boss, but does admit its very hard work.

His arthritis is gone and his health has never been better and his family work with him, which he loves.

Work can be a blessing.

In older times, people worked til they died, even if was mending clothes in a rocking chair or whatever. They remained with their families, several generations together. The young and the old together, learning from each other.

I think the world was a better place then.

As much as it might surprise you, I would agree about "organized religion", but that doesn't mean that there isn't a source or creator IMO.

Humans are meant to work--grow/hunt food, raise livestock, build our own homes, sew, etc. You don't retire from that.
