anyone have advice on bmv?
ok so some of you know i just moved from indiana to colorado. also, i lost my license before moving here. i tried getting a colorado license but i cant prove my identity with just ss card and birth certificate for some reason. i tried to have indiana send me my license but for some god awful reason, they didnt get the address right. and they acant send it again because of legal reasons. so they tell me i need to have someone pick up the license for me which involves me getting an affidavit and notarizing it and sending it to my mother so she can pick up the license for me. but guess what? I NEED MY FUCKING LICENSE TO GET ANYTHING NOTARIZED!!

i literally have no idea what to do at this point. does anyone have any kind of suggestion on what i can do?

Tell them you just arrived from Mexico, you're license will get printed so fast it's liable to burn your hand when they give it to you.

Can't Colorado BMV request Indiana BMV send them a fax of your license?

Maybe not, if you haven't asked. Sometimes it takes asking, even for simple things. They seem to be able to get anything they want between agencies.

If you'd rather not try simple, make it complicated. Drive. Ohio gives you 24 hrs. to come up with your license if you don't have it on you. Don't know about Colorado, but when you get pulled over and you explain your license is lost and you're waiting for it, he'll ask for your name, dob, etc., run a check and get a report. Ask for the report with your license copy on it. There. Now after you use the report to show your license copy to the BMV, go pay your fine for not showing up in time with your license. 8)

you really think if i just ask the bmv to send a fax to colorado they could do something?

the reason i ask is because when i did go to the bmv they basically said i was shit out of luck. they even said i could do a few things by lying but i cant even do that because to do anything I NEED MY LICENSE.

its really pissing me off at this point. i just started my job and when i find time to get to indiana ill need to do constant driving with no stopping. not only that, ill need to make sure to do it during the week while they are open because they never are anymore.

Go to a different notary…like a car lot and use what you have if they even ask.
You should be able to get that accomplished.

A birth certificate and SS card should do the trick. Most of them don't really give a shit from what i've seen.
When I notarized stuff you couldn't read it anyways….like they could look it up? LOL I even put the wrong expirations date in and it didn't matter.

Pretty sure they could, but whether or not they would is another thing. It has to be real frustrating for you and hard to not snap at people, but in this case, you're about going to have to suck it up, be sugar sweet nice and ask for their help.

I'd go at it from the angle that you are looking for someone to help because you just don't know what else to do and know there's someone there able to help. How you understand they don't want multiple copies of DL's floating around the country, but if it came right to their bureau with you standing there, neither agency would have that concern and you'd really appreciate if they would fax Indiana and ask them for a copy. They could verify by your pic that it's you.

If they seems bored, not at all helpful, etc. make sure that while you're being polite, you take a lot of time to ponder your dilemna and anything they say. Each and everything they say. Be obviously thinking as you sweetly waste their time, so they'll want more to be rid of you than you do them.

If you still aren't getting anywhere, ask what the process is when you get a first time DL in Colorado. They probably run a check to see if you have any DL in another state. Soooo, why can't they use that info?

I hope it works for you, cause dealing with things like that is crazy making, but you're going to have to be really nice, make them feel real good about helping you, and tell them how much you appreciate them and ask for their supervisor name so you can pass your appreciation along.

Denver to Gary is over 14 hrs.

I think you would need a second driver. Leave Friday night right after work. Get to Indiana mid-day Saturday. Do your errands. Get some sleep. . Head back to Colorado by no later than 4am Sunday. Gets you back before midnight, and a chance for some sleep before work on Monday.

Night driving is better. Mostly just semis out there.
