The L.A. Riots. Rodney King trial verdict set off a group of angry people to riot on one corner in Los Angeles.

I was getting married 4 days later and so details really stand out to me, and the fact that it was crazy!!!!

300+ fires of all different kinds of storefronts all burning out of control. People looting in every city in L.A. county and all neighboring counties. Fires burning for days. It was a free for all! martial law declared and curfew at sundown declared by Thursday. For me and my then fiancé, he had to pack for me (I could get home) and we had to leave a day late and stay at friends that were in a safer neighbor hood thurs night. ALmost didn't get my dress (being pressed at the dry cleaners). Left at 6 am for the Sierra's(where we were getting married) and the sky was one thick cloud of smoke and visible fires could be seen all across the basin. And get this, we were on the 405 north and there was no one else on the freeway! We weren't even sure we were allowed to be, but cops had better things to do. Fresno was rioting as we drove by it. It was freaky, crazy and eery.

Needless to say, one thing can trigger something a lot bigger, and very quickly.

Nothing's coincidence with these people.
