Bad news for US Vets, Brian Williams replaced by Michelle Obama for award show

Disgraced NBC news anchor Brian Williams, who was brought down when it was revealed he lied about his experience in a war zone, has pulled out of hosting an awards show for military veterans and families.

Williams, who has been suspended from the network since February, said he didn't want to be a 'distraction' from the inaugural Lincoln Awards, which will air Friday on PBS.

Instead, First Lady Michelle Obama has stepped in and agreed to film an introduction for the show, which will honor people and groups that help veteran and military families.

The concert was filmed in January with Williams hosting - before he was forced into seclusion by allegations of lying to burnish his own experiences in the field.

The concert featured appearances by Nick Jonas, Gavin DeGraw and Jerry Lewis
