In my high school there were no black students or black teachers.
Of course they weren't "bussing" kids from one side of town to the other to force integration.
Our standards at that time were high. Yes, there were actually standards.
Our manners were....well, we had manners.
The teachers actually enjoyed coming to work.
The teachers were, for the most part, respected and the principal was feared but a favorite of the students.
The school itself was well-kept, clean and highly functional.
The year after I graduated bussing began.
The school I once attended is now covered with graffiti. It has fallen into disrepair. And the teachers that teach there today do so reluctantly and fearfully.
Standards have devolved to hollow platitudes.
Black gangs rule the grounds.
What happened to my school is simply a microcosm of what has happened to our society.
